Day 20: Concerts you have attended.

Hmm…

My first concert was Randy Travis (along with Williams and Ree, a comedy duo back in the late 80’s/early 90’s) at Bally’s Hotel & Casino.  I’ve loved that man for a long, long time, despite his many issues of late.  After that, it gets a little weird.

I saw New Kids on the Block at Thomas & Mack because my sister, who is three years younger than I am, HAD to go.  Since she was only 12 or 13 at the time, she obviously couldn’t go alone but didn’t want to go with this neighbor of ours, Brad, and his granddaughter.  So, I got guilted into going along with her.  It was an experience, to be sure.  Oh, and I remember my sister being so upset because Joey wasn’t there that night, he’d taken ill earlier that day.  She was devastated.  Anyone remember Dino?  Summer Girls, Real Love, and I Like It?  He popped on stage for a song that night too.  I never did figure out the connection (other than he lived here at the time).

A boyfriend wanted to take me to see Poison and Warrant (told you it got weird after Randy Travis) but my mother wouldn’t let me go to that kind of concert.  So, he used my mother’s overly proper behavior against her – he gave me the tickets as a Christmas present because he knew she would be honor bound in a way to let me go.  He was a really nice guy and I didn’t think he had that level of sneakiness in him.

I’ve seen Tim McGraw three times.  Blake Shelton four times?  Five?  I’ve lost count, but I do remember the first time was at the Silverton Hotel and Casino – way far down off the Strip and, at the time, a dinky kind of locals place.  The stage was out back by the swimming pool, for the love of god.  But man, I was literally five feet from the man and it was awesome.

I saw Jake Owen, Sugarland, and Little Big Town one night.  Montgomery Gentry, Trailer Choir and Toby Keith another night.  Oh, and then a few years ago, my boss gave me tickets to see Toby Keith again, although I can’t remember who his opening act was.  I’ve also seen Def Leppard, Mark Wills, and Deana Carter.

OMG, I forgot Miranda Lambert.  Probably because it was part of that really short tour she did with Blake a few years back. Oops.

JFC, now that I’m looking at this, I’ve been to a crapload more shows than I thought.  Next time you hear me complaining about how I never get to do anything, you have my permission to kick me in the kneecap.  However, in my defense, it’s been several years since I’ve been to a show of any kind.

I really want to see Maroon 5 when they come back to town, but that’ll be New Year’s Eve and you’d have to drug my ass to get me anywhere near the Strip on NYE.  Just sayin’.

HA! I love the sneaky BF story! Lots of no-doubt great shows! I have been to over 50 concerts now (I'm OCD about listing things, although of the last three years or so listing has dropped off - I keep meaning to rectify that)> I have my first 50 concerts listed somewhere on my LJ though - it may even be tagged. ;-)

My mother was not happy when she figured out what he'd done, but OH WELL. :D Wow, that's amazing. I love going to shows, but it can be so expensive in these parts. Ugh.

It's funny, I can remember some things so well and others get all out of sorts in my brain. So, I'm sure you can imagine the chaos that is my internal memory.
