Because [ profile] kaige68 made me do it.

Okay so since I'd never in a million years be able to summarize this movie, I shall steal from IMDB:

A thief who steals corporate secrets through use of dream-sharing technology is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a CEO.

Sounds simple enough, right?  Wrong.  This was the wrong movie to pick to watch when I knew I couldn't give it 100% of my attention.  That said, I think I followed it well enough to say that I enjoyed it.  The premise is fascinating and I think it was rather well executed, despite being a touch confusing once they enter the dreamscape (or however it was they referred to it).

My biggest issue is that Cobb is a bit of an ass.  I understand why - he can't see his kids, he can't return home, etc.  But yikes.  There were times when I really wanted to pop him in the mouth.  While all that is true, he really does drive the movie forward.

Kaige, I totally get the Arthur/Eames thing now.  Thank you.

Oddly enough, I left this movie with a new obsession: Cillian Murphy.

I don't know why, but I'm really drawn to this guy  Maybe it's because he's Irish?  Hmm... I also really liked his storyline, even though you're not sure if his epiphany in the dreamscape is real or a result of the inception.  I'd like to believe it was real, but I'm a romantic at heart.

One of these days I really need to sit down and watch this in one shot (instead of over the course of several mornings), without distractions.  Until then, however, I am going to say that I enjoyed this immensely.

Oh, and as a side laugh... when searching for screencaps to use in this post, I found this and about died laughing:

Bart for the win.

Do you know, that I love it when I'm to blame? 'Cause I do. I do, indeed.

That said, yeah, Cobb's a jerk, but he does it well. I don't like the character, but then, I don't know that I was supposed to. I do think that it is a mark of how good the movie/concept is that 5 years later, with no sequel, there is still some amazing fic being written about it.

I also loved that while they never redeemed Cobb, they 'saved' Fischer. That they resolved his family issue. I was totally on board with Eames when he says that it was a shame they were pulling the plug early as he wanted to see what was in the vault in that snow/hospital level.

Arthur & Eames *sigh* They are so wonderfully antagonistic and yet sure in each other's capabilities. This is one of those fandoms where I know the fic has shaped my appreciation of them more than the film did, but... I'm thrilled you get them!!!

I'm so happy that you didn't hate this!

Your squee ran right off the page! LOL

Hah. Now you need to give me other things to blame you for!

You make a good point. Just because he's seemingly on the side of 'good' (and really, that's debatable considering what they're doing), doesn't mean he's a good guy at all. There's a distinct possibly that we're actually supposed to hate him, too.

Agreed. I kind of felt bad for Fischer from the beginning, for who knows what reason. So to see him get his HEA was nice. YES! I was right there thinking the same thing when he said that.

They really are. And I laughed at one point because (and I might have misheard) Eames called Arthur 'darling'. That was the clincher right there (and if I misheard, don't correct me LOL). I'm sure you're right about the fic shaping your ideas of them. I find that happening to me even with shows that are still on the air. I have to remind myself that this is different.

I am too because my husband scared me. Told me I'd be confused and lost and all these other things... but I was pleasantly surprised! Thank you!

HE DOES CALL HIM DARLING!!! I don't need to disabuse you of that notion! And well my squee should run off the page. I'm actually grinning while I type this up, I'm so happy about it.

I do love a good fic where Cobb is an jerk.

I'm going to rewatch this weekend!! I shall fic for you!

OMG, I have another buddy to flail over Cillian Murphy with!!!!!!

Gosh, I adore his sweet little face. I first saw him in Batman Begins (the first film of the Nolan trilogy) and I absolutely fell in love. He was just so deliciously wicked. I then proceeded to find and devour every Cillian Murphy movie I could - 28 Days Later, Inception, Breakfast on Pluto, Red Eye, Girl With The Pearl Earring... he's wonderful in everything. Especially 28 Days Later. That one's my fave. Mmm, half naked Cillian Murphy covered in blood and gore... yep. :D

I haven't watched anything past The Dark Knight as far as Batman is concerned, so I think I need to catch up ASAP. Because he really is adorable. And I loved his character in this. God. Stay tuned because there shall be more posts in the future.

Oh... and next? I'm watching The Object of My Affection. Just because I can.

YAY!!! I love a good flail buddy. :DDD

While I didn't care for the third Batman as much as the first two in the new trilogy, I was very happy that Cillian reprised his role in all three flicks. It was a nice treat to see his little face flash across the screen. :D

OMG, those gifs!!! I love Bruce Banner fangirling over The Ant Man. XD

Netflix had a bunch of the movies you mentioned, but none of the Batman movies, so I'll have to track those down before long. I saw he played Scarecrow on IMDB, so that makes it worth watching right there.

Hahaha... I know, I saw those on Tumblr a while back and couldn't quit laughing. And then I saw a post that said 'I hope you find someone who looks at you the way Mark Ruffalo looks at Paul Rudd' and that's become my motto. Hah.

Blah, that's one of the things that's always bothered me about Netflix, and all the other film/TV streaming sites. I don't understand their selection process. Like, why do you have some films and not others? Why are you carrying seasons three and four of a certain series but not seasons one and two? I mean, I guess they can't host EVERYTHING because that'd be insane, but you'd think a popular series like Nolan's Batman would be available. *shrugs* Ah well, tis not for me to decide. :)

LOL! I would indeed be pleased to find someone who looked at me the way Mark looked at Paul. XD

I'm sure it's all about the money - how much it costs to get the rights to stream something. But it is frustrating. My girls were stoked that Netflix finally got season 4 of Bob's Burgers so they can catch up. LOL

The good news is, the library had the first two Batman movies... will just have to track down the last one.

Hah! No kidding. :D

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, I'm almost as thrilled as Kaige! I just rewatched this at the weekend as it was coincidentally on actual free-to-air TV here! I followed it so much better this time than I did the first time, whether that was because I was half-asleep the first time or because I was prepared for it, I'm not sure. But I always knew I'd have to watch it again to get it properly, and I'm pleased to say I did.

I love it when Eames calls Arthur 'darling'. That line is absolutely my favourite in the whole movie: 'Don't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.'

I love when Kaige writes Arthur/Eames, and I really need to read more of the other excellent fic that's out there too. ;-)

Also, Cillian *nods* I like 28 Days Later, Breakfast on Pluto, Sunshine (is it that or another one of those space movies? I think that one though) and I'm sure there was another good one.

Ha, and love your gifs of Paul Rudd and Mark Ruffalo! ;-)

HAH! I love that the two of you got so excited I watched this. I think I'm going to need to give it a second watch, too, just because I know what's coming and can pay more attention to the characters themselves than what's going on around them.

I'm telling you - I was in the kitchen, making lunches, with my laptop on the kitchen island and did a double take when he uttered those words. I died laughing when he pulled out that giant ass gun.

I do, too! And one of her little ficlets is the reason I even watched this. I'm so happy I did.

Ooooh... you and Miss Wow giving me all kinds of things to watch now. I'm very thankful that my library has such a nice selection of DVDs! I need to make a list.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! I know, right? Those gifs are the best. And I found myself explaining that whole scenario to my husband over the weekend... one of the cable channels (but not a pay movie channel, if that makes sense to your non-American brain) was playing The Avengers almost nonstop (I watched it three times over the weekend). Amusingly enough, he didn't make fun of me like he usually does, he just laughed.
