A bit of not-so-good news
If you're not in a good state of mind, don't read this. I'm fine, the girls are fine, so you don't need to worry about us. Take care of yourself first.
Okay, so I think I mentioned a couple months ago that I had to take Nayla to the vet because she'd been throwing up a lot. Vet did bloodwork and even an x-ray and everything came back normal. She did have a UTI, which would have explained the vomiting.
Over the last week or so, she's started having trouble using the litterbox, opting to use the floor instead. That right away is a sign of a problem. Generally, another UTI. So, worried about how much weight she seemed to have lost (confirmed: another half pound), I called the vet and they were able to get me in right away. So, I had Taylor meet me at the vet with the princess in tow.
She has a massive tumor on her right kidney, he suspects lymphoma. It's spread to her lungs. There's no treatment and he doesn't give her long. Two months at the most. The only positive is that she isn't in any pain. She'll still come downstairs, hang with the fam, eat a bit, before going back upstairs to my room.
Nayla is 100% my cat and has been since the day we adopted her. When they put us in the room with her at Petco that night, she jumped onto the bench and settled onto my lap within five minutes. I remember Troy being disgruntled over the fact that all the cats always liked me best and not him. LOL Every night, she curls up next to me and I'm going to miss that so much. She's been with us for nearly 8 years, and it's hard to remember when she wasn't there.
Not sure what we're going to do yet, but we won't let her suffer. I will let you know when I have a better answer. And if you made it this far, thank you.

Oh, Amy, I'm so sorry. This is so hard. I know what it was like when we lost our beloved Wilma. She was a bit older than Nayla, but still not old for a cat, and it was so upsetting as she was such a big part of our family. I hope you savour the last bit of time you have with her, and I know you will give her the best rest-of-life that she can have. Many, many hugs.

Thanks. Yeah, it's so darn hard! We're definitely planning to spoil her even more than we already do. She's a huge part of our lives and kind of the matriarch of the kitty faction. I worry about how Sunny and Violet are going to handle her suddenly not being there any longer. *hugs*

I'm so sorry! *hugs* I know you've made her life awesome and she'll be spoiled to no end for the next couple of months.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Glad she isn't in any pain. Sending thoughts of peace your way.

Thanks. She's a good girl. *squeezes*

Thanks. I know, I couldn't cope if I found out she'd been hurting and I didn't know. I will take all the peace you have to spare.

Thanks. I sure hope so. But like with my kids, I'm always worried that it's not enough. However, she was nice and tubby before she got sick, so I know she ate well. :)

Thanks. I know I'm lucky to have had her. Knowing she was asleep beside me at night after I lost Troy was the only thing that got me through the night for a long time.

I think that's a Mom thing. Yeah, I'm sure she did. *hugs*

I am so sorry to hear this.
Enjoy what you have, feed her bacon and ice cream. Watch something tearjerky with her in your lap so you have here there.
*hugs*

Thanks.
I've been spending as much time with her as I can. She's usually napping on my bed when I get home, so I'll lay down and read with her by me until I have to start dinner.

I'm sure you're right. :)

Oh, my gosh — I've missed so much being away a week, and this sad news included. :\. I'm so, soo sorry to hear it. I'm glad she's doing okay, though, and able to enjoy her time. Love and hugs to her and to you all.

Thank you. :) She had a really bad day on Thursday and we had to make the hard choice to let her go on Friday. So, the news gets even sadder. But we had a great 8 years with her.

It's just the worst, losing our fur bears. Especially the cuddly ones. So sorry she is gone, truly.
My current baby, Eloise, is not a lap cat and not the most....elegant? But she was so happy to have me home it broke my heart. They're all very sweet and attached to their people. Those who don't get cats, I don't know what to do with them except maybe pity them.

It really is hard. She was a very sweet girl.
Nayla was the only cuddly one of the bunch. Violet will lay on you for about four minutes and is done. Sunny acts like we're toxic waste. 🤣
Aw, I love that Eloise found a way to show you how happy she was to have you home! Sunny likes to bump your legs when you've got your hands full — ensuring you cannot actually touch her. But yeah, cats are very affectionate and funny creatures. How can you not love that?
