I think I need to ditch hockey and go back to baseball.
It's a beautiful day for a ballgame... let's play two )

Spring in the desert is windy.  This is not a surprise to me at all.  What was a surprise, however, was that the wind activated seasonal allergies which turned into a sinus infection which seems to have turned into a chest cold and/or bronchitis.  For three weeks, I've been dealing with chest congestion and a hacking cough.  No other symptoms.

I was cleaning out my inbox, trying to get rid of some of the clutter.  Which is... pointless since I'm a digital packrat.  But I digress.  I had apparently sent myself the link to this gif a few weeks ago.  As far as I'm concearned, it's hilarious.  Also, I can see it getting a lot of use in the future, especially where the current administration is considered.

(I keep watching Mitchy swing for the fences and I can't stop...)

One of my foremen regularly emails me stuff and asks if I'd print it for him.  I get it, printers (plus paper, toner, etc) are expensive and not everyone has one.  No biggie.

I see his name pop up in my inbox this morning, I click on the email, and go to print the docs for him.

WOULD YOU BELIEVE THIS MFer FORWARDED ME HIS PETITION FOR DIVORCE??????

I'm dead over here, guys.  I guess at least this means he trusts me enough to send it to me but STILL.

Anyway, his stuff is printed, paperclipped, and waiting for him.

On that note, have a lovely Thursday, whether you get the hang of them or not.

You don't have to check hockey or lacrosse sticks - they can be stored in the overhead compartment in an airplane. Who knew?

And on that note ... I'm off to leave my heart in San Francisco.

Started my day out by taking Violet to the vet for her distemper booster.  She's now caught up on her vaccinations.  That leaves Sunny.  I'll get her up to date once I get back from my trip and have saved some money up again.  (She'll likely need blood work, too, since she's almost 8.)

So, I had a hell of a day at work yesterday, compounded by an accident on the freeway coming home.  Took me 50 minutes to go 12 miles.  TWELVE!

So, I decided to be dumb and set two alarms for myself last night.  One for around 12:45 AM PST when the eclipse started and then another for around 3:30 AM when it'd be at its max.

Title: Amarillo by Morning
Fandom: Romani Detective Original Fiction
Pairing: Gen, some Zayne/Hilary
Rating: PG-13 for one potty-mouthed Texan
Word Count: 3,184
Summary:  Zayne’s trying to navigate being a detective without a partner.
Author’s Note: Not what you’re thinking so stop that.  One of my bingo cards had a square for pre-cannon and I struggled to think of anything for this.  Then, out of the blue, Spotify coughed up George Strait’s “Amarillo By Morning” and inspiration struck.  I know I had written a first meet for Zayne and Andrej some time ago, but I couldn't find it to save my life.  So, here is the new pre-cannon and a bit of Zayne without his better half.

I used to do these a lot on my old Blogger account - pictures I took at stoplights, things I saw or heard, whatever.  But just things that happened while I was driving.  I might have even posed a couple here in the past, but lets start over, shall we?

I was watching 9-1-1 Lone Star last night.  I'm behind on both it and the original so I started with LS since there are fewer seasons.  Hahaha.

Anyway, I was watching S4 E15 (I think): Donors.  Grace helps break up an organ trafficking ring while Owen's brother is visiting.  I was on IMDB because I was pretty sure that Detective Dickhead (who later turns out to be an okay dude) was Adam Baldwin (certified IRL dickhead).  While I was looking, I noticed that Owen's brother was played by Rob Lowe's actual brother.  I had no idea he even had a brother who acted.  It was kind of crazy because their voices are similar and their intonations/manner of speaking are very similar.

I'm sad that this got cancelled though.  I weirdly enjoy it more than the original.  Will have to check out Nashville as well.  I just love how freaking ridiculous the episode plots are.

(Wish I still had my talk to me Texas icon loaded.)

I also watched the Emma Thompson version of Sense and Sensibility over the weekend.  Kaige had rec'd it to me but at the time, Britbox only had another version.  Thankfully, BB got with the times and added this one as well.  I enjoyed both versions, but I will say that Alan Rickman makes a much better Col Brandon.  The dude in the other was much too old.  Hahaha.

And now I need to crowdsource opinions on the best adaptation of Jane Eyre.  Britbox has the 2006(?) version with Ruth Wilson, whom I really enjoy.  But I am open to suggestions.

I keep trying to write a post about this and it keeps diverging into family drama, so I'm going to try this one more time and keep my pettiness in check.  Wish me luck.  🤣

I am really, really fucking tired of being shamed and made fun of becuase I can't hack really cold weather.  It is 47 here right now and I'm freezing.  Whoever turned on my space heater yesterday did it for me again today.  I owe them a hug or a coffee or something.

But this particular east coaster I talk to laughed at me for saying I was cold at 49 yesterday and how she'd be wearing shorts and a tank top.  Okay, um, good for you?  Why don't you come visit me in July when we're pushing 117 and see how well you handle the heat?

I know, I know, I shouldn't let this bother me as much as it does, but I am so damn touchy about this subject.  A lot of it stems from being told by my former boss always saying, "You can't possibly be cold" when I'm sitting directly under the AC vent and he's dropped the temp down to 68º.  But also, everyone is different.  I thrive in the heat, but not everyone likes the dry, hot summers we have here.  I don't ridicule them for complaining.  Troy used to call me a freak of nature because I wouldn't use my AC for most of the summer.

Anyway, sorry about this.  I had to get it out before I told the wrong person to STFU and let me be cold.  Hahaha.

While I'm hesitant to complain about how cold I am, seeing as the east coast and midwest have been pummelled with snow, I am still fricken COLD guys.
