Whoops...

And no, I did not buy more books. Just sayin' 'cause I know y'all are wondering.

I'm kinda having one of those days... not one of THOSE DAYS those days but... just a day. Nothing overly awful has happened but lots of dumb little things are getting in the way of me being productive. Anyway, I scan and email off an invoice that was requested and, as I'm stapling it and putting it away in my job folder I realize that I scanned EVERY PAGE UPSIDE DOWN. I hate these pay applications that are in landscape rather than in normal people's portrait. Because if it was in portrait, I WOULD HAVE KNOWN THEY WERE UPSIDE DOWN.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh...

Assholes deserved it though. This is what you get when you ask for something three weeks early, harass my foreman (named James amusingly enough), and give me no notice.

So. How is YOUR Thursday? :D

(And truly, I'm not having a bad day. I'm quite amused by the fact I managed something so dumb today.)

I did once hear from one of the guys trying to use the machine "How come it only copied the stuff on the back? That was just a scribble. Why didn't it copy the front?"

I've also had my boss slamming the thing, punching all kinds of buttons, and getting absolutely pissed at the machine only to start laughing because the screen popped up with an 800 number to call for assistance. "It cried for help."

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2018-12-06 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I heard that a lot a few years ago when we got a new copier - one where you had to put the document face UP instead of face DOWN like they were used to. :D

LMAO! "It cried for help" is killing me right now.

The sad thing is... I was using the scanner on my little HP printer... the one that IS NOT very complicated. It was definitely user error on my part. The accounting lady on the other end of the email will get a laugh. The PM for the job will likely have a fit. Poor him (not). :D

I think if it hadn't cried for help it would have died an ugly death. My boss loves the thing now.

Kudos to the copier for knowing when it's had enough. LOL

Boy you should see the way people scan things here. *shakes head* I've seen pages mixed up; pages scanned some one way, some another; scanned 2 sides (MANY PAGES) when the backs are blank; random sideways pages in amongst the portrait ones (WTF??); and that's probably not everything. It's like no one cares when the person reading it has to figure out what goes where or scroll endlessly through blank pages to get the info they need. Flipping the whole thing to the opposite way up is not so hard in comparison! They'll probably get a laugh and that's about it!

I hope the rest of your day is awesome! We're off to Christmas lunch at work soon, which I am REALLY looking forward to! YUM!

I've received more than a few crazy scans like that as well. But I hear you. You would not believe what the time cards look like when they're dropped on my desk Tuesday afternoon. I swear, sometimes I think they wipe their mouths after lunch with them. LOL

I have a little over an hour left, so all good here! Enjoy your lunch!

My principal sent home retention letters for the YEAR today. Our 2nd quarter ends the end of December. And we had a kid change his grade in the computer. So I suspect he will be suspended.

Other than that; pretty typical day.

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2018-12-06 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
OOOOPS. Your poor principal though. Oh yikes - I've heard of kids trying, but never one succeeding.

Good to know!

Back from a most excellent lunch, but I am stuffed... then we had our gift exchange - I got a nice fruit bowl full of apples (and foolishly am eating one, although after all the rich food, an apple is OK, even if unneeded). Home time in about 40 mins so YAY!

Oh boy, I can imagine with the time cards. Like schoolkids, right?

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2018-12-07 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds wonderful, despite being stuffed!

Oh gods yes, they are awful these boys!

[identity profile] shanachie-quill.livejournal.com 2018-12-26 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Its been insane.

*nods* I'll be glad when this year is over.

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2018-12-26 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Same. Although I don't expect 2019 to be much different than 2018. But hey, at least I know what I'm in for now. :)

2018 apparently wanted to kick me in the teeth one more time.

My momo had a stroke sometime Christmas Eve/Christmas morning. She's doing pretty well. Her motor skills are good. But her speech is off and she's having memory troubles. She gets better every day. but it's going to be a long road.

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2019-01-02 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that! But I'm glad to hear she's doing okay.

[identity profile] shanachie-quill.livejournal.com 2019-01-21 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. It's one day at a time. And learning the new normal. She's doing better... not sure about okay.

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2019-01-31 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm sure there's a huge learning curve. Finding her new level of okay is one of the hard parts.

[identity profile] shanachie-quill.livejournal.com 2019-02-26 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
It really is. She's working hard because she wants to get back to doing things, but it's slow going. Yeah it really is.

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2019-02-27 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
As long as she's doing better, even if the progress is slow, it's a good thing.

[identity profile] shanachie-quill.livejournal.com 2019-03-07 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
It is. She's frustrated though.

I'll have to PM you and fill you in on everything. Hopefully I'll remember this weekend (and find the time).

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2019-03-07 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure she is. It's hard to go from being able to do things for yourself to having to rely on others.

Feel free, whenever you remember. I'm always around somewhere. :)

[identity profile] shanachie-quill.livejournal.com 2019-04-07 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Oy I forgot... doing it now...
