September Book Recap

I’d say I had a good month, but I mostly read manga so I’m not sure if that makes these numbers good or really sad. Hahaha.

What I read:

The Turn of the Screw by Henry James. I picked this up from the library because it’s what Netflix is basing The Haunting of Bly Manor on. Holy cow was this dense and difficult to get through. For only being a hundred pages, I struggled. I did feel better after reading through some of the comments on Goodreads and saw that many others felt the same way. WHEW.

Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge. In light of the state of our country currently, I thought this would be a good book to read and I’m glad I did. If you want to know a bit more about this book, go read the post I made on my book blog here yesterday.

Snowflakes by Ruth Ware. This was a short story about deception and family. It was my first by the author, despite having a couple of her books on my bookshelf. I’ll need to move them up the list soon.

Haikyu!! Volume 1. A volleyball manga, but the main character is too short for the game, which I can heartily relate to. LOL Really cute.

Ao Haru Ride Volumes 10 and 11. I’m so sad that this is almost over. I have volume 12 at home and volume 13 is on its way to me now and then… it’ll be over. On the bright side, I can watch the anime now, I suppose. But damnit, Kou and Futuba belong together!

Spy x Family Vol 2. I love this darn series. Loid the spy is becoming more dad-like. Yor, the assassin, is settling into a more mom-like role (even if she is a crazy ass mom). Anya, the mind-reading six-year-old is as cute and hysterical as ever. GIMME MORE.

Castle Mango Vol 2. I was rather disappointed in how this ended, but overall it was a good story.

What I want to read next:

TBRs are hard for me because I’m a total mood reader. But eh, I can try.
Ao Haru Ride Volumes 12 and 13

Orange: The Complete Collection Volume 1

Not Your Idol Volume 2

Blue Flag Volumes 2 and 3

Tower of Fools – Andrzej Sapkowski (finish)

The Last Enemy – Pauline Baird Jones (finish)

At least one of the books chosen for me over at thestoryinside.

And hopefully at least one other book I’ve started and never finished. I managed to cross three off my list of languishing books last month. That’s less than 1% of what I’ve got on there, but it’s a start.

Read anything good lately?
