Day 22: June 14, 2021

Today's workout: Transform 20 Week 4 Burn. And lemme tell you, that's an accurate description because my right calf is cramping as we speak. LMAO.

I'm skipping the 'personal development' part of this today and just airing all my worries. Which, in a way, I guess is personal development. I mean, I'm not holding it all in right?

Taylor is having her wisdom teeth out today. My father-in-law was supposed to take her, but he had to have back surgery on Friday, so he's laid up in the hospital. So, Mads is taking Tay to the oral surgeon. And let's just say that getting up by 7:30 will be a challenge for my younger child. LOL My mother-in-law will be meeting the girls there, not sure if she's staying or not. She HATES waiting so I doubt she'll stick it out for long.

So, I'm stressing that a little bit today. I'm not horribly worried because when Maddie had hers out several years ago, she did great. And that kid doesn't handle pain well. My biggest concern is that Troy never did well with anesthesia. I always warned the nurses anytime he had surgery, that he was going to hurl. Annnnd... it always happened. Tay's only had surgery once before - to have tubes put in her ears - and she puked then, so, I fear it'll happen again.

It's also going to be hot as a mother here today, possibly breaking our record temp by 4 degrees.

In happier news, Maddie has gotten a job. I hadn't wanted her to get one until she was a senior and was only doing a half day, but she turned 18 and then COVID became a thing last year, so she wasn't ever able to get a job. She was hired at the first place she applied, so that made her happy. I do worry about her doing this because she's not as outgoing as her sister, but she'll also be in her element, so that might make it easier. Hopefully she doesn't let the first few days discourage her and she enjoys her job.

Okay, that's enough for today. I'll let you know how Tay does at the oral surgeon either later today or tomorrow and will let you know how Mads likes her job probably this weekend (her first day isn't until Thursday).

Until then, happy Monday! Stay cool (or warm, depending) and have a good one.

*squishes*

She just texted me a picture saying she's all done, so one less thing on my shoulders. Her poor face is so swollen. LOL

Me, too, thanks. :)

*hugs* I'm sure you are worried about Tay. Hope everything goes okay. Did someone warn the nurse she might throw up?

Yay Maddie for getting a job! Congrats.

Yeah, her dad never did well with anesthesia and that was what had me most concerned. She texted me a pic of her swollen face around 9 AM letting me know she was done. So, that's a relief.

Thanks, she's excited. :)

I can totally understand that. I didn't react well the first two times--woke up crying the first and in the middle of surgery the second.

I'm glad to hear that.

Yay! That's always good.

Tay survived and that's good.

Yes, she did. She told me last night that this whole week will be about serving her needs. I quietly informed her that that's been my life for the last 21 years. LOL

Thinking happy and healthy thoughts for Taylor. I was so stoned after having my wisdom teeth out. I kept insisting I needed to feed the fish at the oral surgeon's office. The nice ladies at the desk kept reassuring me they had already fed the nice fishies. I don't think I will ever live it down. Hopefully, they will give her some anti-nausea meds to go along with the anesthetic.

Congrats to Maddie on the job. What will she be doing?

We're supposed to have record-setting heat all week. We ran to the store before work to pick up some bottled water (remember to never drink the San Diego tap water) and some sliced turkey so we can have cold dinners for the next few days. No A/C so we'll stick with sandwiches. Nice and easy and we won't spend a fortune on deliveries.

Hah, I love it! When Maddie got hers out, she couldn't stop laughing. It was hilarious. But Taylor's doing well, she texted me a picture and said she couldn't stop crying (which amusingly is what happened when her dad had his out). So far, she hasn't gotten sick so that's a good sign.

Thanks! She'll be working at Hot Topic which, if you knew my kid, you'd know is the perfect job for her. LOL

Smart thinking all around. Ugh on no AC! It was already 90ยบ here by 8 AM. I wouldn't have managed without AC. On a whim, I bought a box of popsicles and I'm eternally grateful for that impulse. Hoping you can stay cool and comfortable!
