February Book Recap
Okay, so it’s still February, but I’m not finishing anything today. So, I think I’m safe.
What I read:
Lost Light by Michael Connelly. Audiobook. Really enjoyed this Bosch novel. They’re all good, but some grab me more than others. This was one.
A Mystery of Mysteries: The Death and Life of Edgar Allan Poe by Mark Dawidziak. Netgalley ARC. I love Poe, always have, but didn’t know a whole lot about his personal life. This book points out a lot of the common beliefs, disproves some, questions others. Overall, an interesting read.
The Closers by Michael Connelly. Audiobook. Another good Bosch novel. I’m really fascinated by cold cases, so this was extra interesting for me.
The Villa by Rachel Hawkins. Ebook. A thriller told in alternating timelines. Really enjoyed this, although the ending of the ‘current’ timeline aggravated me. But the past timeline was very interesting.
The Narrows by Michael Connelly. Audiobook. The plot in this was very good, but Rachel Walling annoyed me. She didn’t bother me so much in The Poet, but she was over the top Not Like Other Girls in this one.
The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen by KJ Charles. Netgalley ARC. I loved this book so much. Books where someone from the upper class falls for someone in the lower class always grab me and when one of them is a smuggler? Gotta love that. LOL
The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly. Audiobook. LOVED this. The narrator made Mickey come off as more of a jerk than he might have on paper though. Wondering now why the Netflix series started with The Brass Verdict and not this one?
What I’m currently reading:
Rings on Her Fingers by ReGina Welling. Ebook. Cute little cozy mystery I picked up as a freebie.
Black Mouth by Ronald Malfi. Audiobook. So, there was a wait for the next Bosch book at the library and I decided to use my $10 Audible credit and buy this book. I’m not sure why I chose to go with a horror novel in audio… but we’ll see if I made a mistake here or not. Hahaha. Guess I was trying to prevent Bosch Burnout.
What’s up next:
Echo Park by Michael Connelly. First in line for the audiobook now.
Other than that, I don’t know. I have some print books I’d like to read and get rid of, but I would also like to read some of the ebooks I have stashed on my Kindle and my Kobo. Don’t have any ARCs due until April, so nothing that has to be read.
Last year, I found a really need book tracking spreadsheet that gathers so much information and then breaks it down into graphs, monthly and yearly stats, etc. I forgot about it and didn’t use it as much as I should have. However, so far this year, I’ve been keeping up with it and the stats can be kind of interesting!
Here’s a screenshot of my January and February reads:

I’ll be interested to see at the end of the year how many audiobooks I read in comparison to other formats. And um, *coughs* can we ignore how many books I’ve acquired since the first of the year? Most of them have been freebies.
Update on the Bosch Book Challenge: I've read 15 of the series to date and have 26 left. *sighs*
Okay, so that’s enough babbling out of me for one day.
