A bit of not-so-good news
If you're not in a good state of mind, don't read this. I'm fine, the girls are fine, so you don't need to worry about us. Take care of yourself first.
Okay, so I think I mentioned a couple months ago that I had to take Nayla to the vet because she'd been throwing up a lot. Vet did bloodwork and even an x-ray and everything came back normal. She did have a UTI, which would have explained the vomiting.
Over the last week or so, she's started having trouble using the litterbox, opting to use the floor instead. That right away is a sign of a problem. Generally, another UTI. So, worried about how much weight she seemed to have lost (confirmed: another half pound), I called the vet and they were able to get me in right away. So, I had Taylor meet me at the vet with the princess in tow.
She has a massive tumor on her right kidney, he suspects lymphoma. It's spread to her lungs. There's no treatment and he doesn't give her long. Two months at the most. The only positive is that she isn't in any pain. She'll still come downstairs, hang with the fam, eat a bit, before going back upstairs to my room.
Nayla is 100% my cat and has been since the day we adopted her. When they put us in the room with her at Petco that night, she jumped onto the bench and settled onto my lap within five minutes. I remember Troy being disgruntled over the fact that all the cats always liked me best and not him. LOL Every night, she curls up next to me and I'm going to miss that so much. She's been with us for nearly 8 years, and it's hard to remember when she wasn't there.
Not sure what we're going to do yet, but we won't let her suffer. I will let you know when I have a better answer. And if you made it this far, thank you.
