Update January 15th

Hey, so how has this last week been treating you?  Hopefully your weather isn't too horrird right now.  Ours finally chilled TF out and is hanging around our average high/low temps again.
Nothing exciting happening here.  Taylor's going to the VGK game this afternoon since it's at 3:00.  Maddie's still bopping along.  Never did manage my kitten pic post, but hopefully this week.

What I've been reading:

I only finished one book last week and that was Lucky Bounce by Cait Nary.  It was super cute and steamy, but it could have used a second point of view.  I love Zeke, but it would have made a lot of Spencer's actions and reacitons more understandable if we'd gotten into his head occasionally.  Review here if you're interested.

Almost finished with my first Agatha Christie novel - have about 15 minutes left in The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, which is narrated by Richard Armitage.  Have to say, I've been loving it so far.  Poirot is a nutty SOB.

Reading Twenty-Seven Minutes by Ashley Tate on my Kindle, and Out of the Fog by Clarissa Ross in paperback.  The first is an ARC of a mystery/thriller that has been pretty engaging so far, even though I'm only 10% in.  The second is an old, gothic romance that looks like it might be a creepy ghost story in the end.  Copyright in it is 1970 and the used paperback I got is probably an original print.  Might even have come with its own ghost as the cats will not leave it alone.  Have to put it in my nightstand when I'm not reading it or it winds up on the floor, under the bed.

What I've been watching:

Finished season 2 of The X-Files and I'm ticked off it ended on a 'to be continued'.  LOL  I like to take a break between seasons so I don't get burnt out on a show.  GRR.

Almost finished with season 12 of Chopped.  Also caught up on the three episodes of Night Court that are out.  Not nearly as good as the original, but I'm still laughing, so I call it a win.

Taylor wanted to watch May December on Netflix yesterday.  Ten minutes in, she noped right out.  LOL  It was reallly slow to start, so I don't blame her.  Instead, she pivoted (PIVOT!) to a new show on Netflix called Fool Me Once, based on the book by Harlan Coben.  We devoured five episodes yesterday.  Oops.  Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] kaige68, guess who's in that?  Mr. Tupperware!

Need to figure out what I'm going to watch next.  Ought to consult the list I started. Hahaha.  Recs always welcome.  I'm even game for things that aren't usually my thing because if it's got a good plot, I'll give it a shot.

On the fitness end, I'm holding steady at least.  LOL  Down a little over 1lb, which I'll take.  Managed three workouts, even if one was only stretching.  But I'm getting there.  <3

We're watching Fool Me Once - I'm waiting for the hubby to get back from his roadie as we are right into it together! Can't wait to get back to it, though I have many words to say to the lead character (I've forgotten her name) and the cop!!! Mr Tupperware indeed! ;-)

Maya! And yes — UGH. As for the policeman, Kierce, he has a revelation at the end that explains everything. Although, I told Taylor that I could watch a show based around him and his partner.

I completely blanked on her name the other day! Of course!

I look forward to seeing how they wrap it up!

I must rewatch X-Files sometime too. There was one whole season Hubby and I missed (maybe S3?) because we were taking a Spanish night-class, but we got back into it after that. Couldn't catch up with it anywhere in those days as there was no streaming and I never did buy the dvds, which would've helped! But now.... like someone else said, it could be like a new show as I've forgotten so much!

Having said that though, I'd probably avoid the hill-billy one where they kept the mom under the bed... that one stuck out for me and totally creeped me out. You'll know it when you get to it, but I've forgotten what season and the ep title.

It's okay, I had to stop and think about what it was myself. The girl they got to play her kid is the cutest thing though.

Hoping you get to finish it soon.

I agree with you on that. I managed to get Taylor to watch The Good Place with me and even though it's only been off air for a few years, I'd forgotten so much.

Why does that sound like an episode of Criminal Minds? 😂

Because nothing is new anymore? 🤣

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2024-01-31 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)

True! But it just sounds more like a horrific crime show than The X-Files. LOL

[identity profile] haldoor.livejournal.com 2024-02-01 01:04 am (UTC)(link)

Oh boy! At the time I thought it was a pretty horrific crime, TBH! I can't even remember why it was an X-File now... maybe due to the inbreeding someone was mistaken for something else or something. Honestly, it's so long ago, but I know it was essentially a 'monster of the week' type ep, though unlike SPN, it wasn't always a 'monster' as such in X-Flies.

Ooh, found it! S4.02, link to an article about it: https://collider.com/x-files-episode-home-banned/#:~:text=%22Home%2C%22%20an%20episode%20from,receive%20a%20TV%2DMA%20rating.

So creepy! Still gives me the collywobbles!

It still sounds bad, to be honest!

Thanks for the article link. I'll have to keep this in mind when I get to season 4 finally. LOL
