Bobby Flay Saves the Day (Romani Detective Original fiction)
Title: Bobby Flay Saves the Day
Fandom: Romani Detective Original Fiction
Pairing: Andrej Zeklos/James Rosewood/Zayne Reyes
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 496
Summary: Andrej is on his way to the grocery store and makes the mistake of asking what his boys want for dinner.
Author’s Note: I’ve been craving a burger for a good week now, so I decided to make some this week. Pulled out my copy of Bobby Flay’s Burgers, Fries, & Shakes and discovered a bookmark in it. Opened the book and saw his Argentinian Burgers – a patty with cheese and chimichurri sauce on top. Family favorite that I’d forgotten about. Also, his onion string recipe is the best. Now, I’m regretting having promised my kids that I’d make eggplant parmesan for dinner tonight. Haha!
“What would you like for dinner tonight,” Andrej asked James, who had just sat down at the breakfast bar. “I am on my way to the store now.”
James shrugged. “It doesn’t matter to me, you know that. I’m just happy you feed me as well as you do.”
Andrej smiled and wiped down the counter where he’d made his oatmeal earlier that morning. “I know that Zayne is more vocal about what we eat, but I thought I would ask you first.”
“Can you make some burgers this week,” Zayne asked, coming into the kitchen and sitting on the empty stool beside James. “Those ones with the cheese and the green stuff on top like you did last time?”
“Green stuff,” James asked, crinkling his nose in disgust.
“He means the chimichurri sauce,” Andrej said with a sigh. Sometimes, their comments only made things worse and it made his head hurt. “The sauce with the parsley, vinegar, and garlic you both liked so much?”
“Oh,” James said, his face returning to a less annoyed state. “Oh, yeah, I remember that. But when he called it green stuff –”
Andrej held out a hand. He got it, but he also knew that half of James’ comment was aimed at annoying Zayne and he wasn’t about to let it go on any longer than it already had. “Of course I can make those burgers for you.”
“Mmm,” Zayne said, rubbing his tummy. “You really do love me, don’t you?”
“God only knows why,” James sniped.
“Jay,” Andrej warned. “Stop it.”
“Sorry,” James muttered, not sounding it. “You want me to go to the store with you?”
He really, really wanted ten minutes alone, but he was worried that if he left James here with Zayne that there wouldn’t be a kitchen left to make burgers in when he returned. “Sure, if you would like to come along, you are welcome to do so.”
“Give me a few minutes to get dressed and we can go,” James said, sliding off the stool and heading for the bedroom.
“Would you like anything else,” Andrej asked once James was gone.
“Think I can convince you to make those utterly unhealthy, but utterly delicious onion strings to go with them?”
Andrej smiled. James loved those things and so did he. “I believe I can make an exception for tonight,” he said, knowing that he’d have done it anyway. Something as simple as onion strings were sure to make both of his boys happy.
“Thanks,” Zayne said, getting up and pressing a kiss to the side of Andrej’s face. “You really are the best. I’m going to shower. See you when you get back.”
Sighing at the averted crisis, Andrej finished cleaning the kitchen while he waited for James to return. Some days, loving two men was more trouble than it was worth. But then, on his worst days, having them both made up for every last one of their combined faults.

Sweet. Poor Andrej having to run interference for the other two.

Maybe you can convince the girls to go for the burgers.

I made stir fry last night. And I'll make shrimp scampi tonight. And corned beef on Tuesday! I'm sure I'll be cooking more with no work.

I make a lot of stir-fry. Actually making Kung Pao pork later this week. Mmm.. I love shrimp, but Maddie won't eat it. *sigh* Enjoy!

I love stir fry. Thankfully so does the rest of the family. We bought a new stir fry packet and it was no bueno. So I might just pull the sauce out and ditch the veggies.
I adore shrimp, I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't make it.

Same. It's simple, it's healthy, and it's a great way to use up leftovers. It's super simple to build your own because you can literally put whatever you like into it. And making your own sauce is easy, too. There's a reason why Andy is always making Zayne stir-fry - because I'm constantly making it myself. LOL
Same, it's one of my favorite things.

It really is. Although we tend to start from scratch. I make a honey soy sauce mix, but no one but me likes it. LOL of course.
Yup. We have a "fast food" seafood place in town that is doing a double dozen shirmp right now. Soooo good.

Ugh, I miss Long John Silver's. Their popcorn shrimp was so good. *sigh*

I miss Long John Silver's too. I don't like Captain D's nearly as much. We had a LJS on the other side of town, but when they remodled, they didn't put it back in.

I don't even think we have Captain D's here. The only LJS that was close closed years ago. Which is sad because it was a LJS/A&W combined.
no subject
Aw that's sad. Oh that sounds delicious!

I'd get fish from LJS and onion rings from A&W. LOL

Heee... I think ours was with a KFC. So shrimp from LJS and fries from KFC.

Mmm... sounds good to me!
