Title: Check Please

Summary: Chase picks up the check.
Author’s Note: So, when visiting Montreal back in April, we came to find the hotel lobby full of firefighters, an act that spurred a silly back and forth about firefighters and eventually hockey players.  Because you know, CANADA.  But why two firefighters?  Because when I was sending an email to myself to remind me to eventually write this, my phone suggested fireMEN instead of fireMAN.  And I figured WHY THE HELL NOT?  But that might have been the alcohol talking, too.

The first song presented in the songfic challenge at 1_million_words was Taylor Swift's "Anti-Hero".  From the first time I heard it, it made me think of Zayne.  So, when it was presented, he is immediatly who I went to for inspriation.

I wrote something early in the fic that made me think of another song - "Love You Too Late" by Cole Swindell - and then it rather spiraled out of control and now I have a(nother) new playlist.

While I managed to keep the playlist down to nine songs, the fic topped out at over 4k words.  IN TWO DAYS I WROTE 4K WORDS.

OH!  And hopefully I'll get the fic posted tomorrow.  It's done, I just need to give it one more read through and I don't have it in me today.

"Look, our mugs are made of pewter," Jaskier said jovially.

"Jaskier, they are made of wood," Geralt corrected, holding his in front of the bard's face.

"No, Geralt," Jaskier sighed, pointing to the wall where the wanted posters hung, "our mugs are literally made of pewter."

Geralt made a face, but resisted uttering the one word that could express all his frustration.

"My, my, does this mean we've learned some restraint?"

Geralt simply grunted and finished off his ale in one swallow.
