Hell's Bells

...and then some.

I wasn't surprised when our first employee tested positive for COVID-19. The majority of our work currently is in the hospitals. I also wasn't too worried because early on, my bosses decided that the field workers shouldn't come up into the office in the afternoons unless absolutely necessary. This limited our (the office people) potential exposure.

The first three to test positive were all plumbers and not foremen, so I wasn't too overly concerned here either, because I rarely, if ever, come into contact with these guys.

I started getting worried when our first foreman tested positive. Ari's super sweet and seeing him always makes me happy. However, he was smart when he did come upstairs, he wore his mask and kept his distance.

This morning, I discovered one of our other foremen - Eddie - might possibly be positive as well. He's sick, he's getting tested. Trouble is, Eddie ALWAYS comes over to see me. He's my buddy and he's called me trouble from the day he met me 22 years ago. LOL Yes, he's been wearing his mask, thankfully, but he doesn't keep 6' away either. But then, Eddie's always had personal space issues. (Reminds me of someone else I know...)

Add to this the information that Rhett (my boss Jeff's son), who started working in the office a few weeks ago, is out today, sick. Jeff says he has 'a little flu, but it's not that'. Sure, okay, is he getting tested? Also, last week, Rhett and Joel were on a jobsite for a meeting and Rhett was talking to one of our guys who tested positive the day after. So, um, Jeff, please tell me he's getting tested, okay?

Anyway, just wanted to get that out of my system so I can focus on other things. On the bright side, my boss, Jeff, must have gone to Utah over the weekend because there was a case of peaches on my desk this morning. The girls will be thrilled.

I hope you're all safe and healthy! So far, so good here. *knocks on wood*

(LMAO, I see you, Spotify, pulling that song up just as I was about to add the music to this post. Zayne says he feels so seen.)

*hugs*. You know we just had a round of testing in our work place. We had the place electrostatically cleaned after. It was an insanely stressful two weeks. My fingers are crossed for you, may the results be swift and negative.

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2020-07-27 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
*socially acceptable sterile hugs back*

That sounds stressful, but definitely necessary right now. It's good that they're trying to stay on top of things and keep you all healthy.

Thanks. I'm hoping that Eddie is negative, too, mainly because he has a young daughter (2nd grade?) at home. But the fewer guys we have sick, the better.

Happy freaking Monday!

Oh no! Hope you are able to keep healthy!

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2020-07-27 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. So far, we're good. But always here for good thoughts. :)

*elbow bump*

*keeping fingers crossed*

Hoping your guy does test negative. Had a few scares at Wally World, but so far so good nobody has tested positive.

Happy freaking Monday.

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2020-07-27 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. :) I'm honestly surprised that considering how many people any single Walmart employs, that you haven't had any positive cases yet. Crossing my fingers that it stays that way.

Yeah, I know. Blah!

[identity profile] sharpiesgal.livejournal.com 2020-07-27 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. They keep telling me that there are over three hundred people employed at my store, but I call bullshit because I only see the same ones over and over again, plus it takes forever to get a day's work done.

Yeah...happy, happy, joy, joy.

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2020-07-27 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know why this has me laughing, but I am. I do feel your pain. There are five of us in the office and yet I'm the only one able to answer a damn phone. Not the same but... I get it. :D

Well, it's almost noon here now so that's half the day down.

Scary. I just had my first customer call with it. We were out there exactly 2 weeks ago though so we might have missed the window. Taking no chances with my tech though.

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2020-07-27 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Yikes! Yeah, you can't take anything for granted right now. Hopefully your tech doesn't get sick. :(

[identity profile] shanachie-quill.livejournal.com 2020-07-28 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
So scary! Hope everything comes out negative.

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2020-07-28 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. :) Eddie says he's feeling better, his temp is down, but he went and got tested anyway. These poor guys, I feel for them.

[identity profile] shanachie-quill.livejournal.com 2020-08-02 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
Hope it's still looking up.

We're waiting for Momo's test to come back, but at least she doesn't live with us.

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2020-08-02 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately, Eddie tested positive as well as like three others. But he's feeling better at least, so that's something.

Hopefully it comes back negative.

[identity profile] shanachie-quill.livejournal.com 2021-01-26 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
That is good. I have to go get tested tomorrow again. (I assume since I was out today.)

It did. Or at least she said it did.

Clearly I suck at answering comments.

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2021-01-26 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Now we're working round two with the COVID cases. Hoping that you're negative!

[identity profile] shanachie-quill.livejournal.com 2021-04-25 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
I've been negative every time I get tested. And now I'm vacinated.

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2021-04-26 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
That's good to hear. I'm half-vaxxed, I get my second shot on 5/15.

[identity profile] shanachie-quill.livejournal.com 2021-05-29 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I wanna get the vaxx bracelets, but later.

[identity profile] haldoor.livejournal.com 2020-07-29 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
OMG, that is scary, especially since that's a LOT of people at one place of employment. Not sure how many are employed there overall, but honestly that seems like a lot.

We have been so lucky here, and I am so very thankful, but I'm crossing my fingers for you and all those around you! *hugs*

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2020-07-29 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
We have about 55 employees and now have a total of 12 possible and/or positive cases. That's about 20% of our employees, so yeah, definitely scary.

You guys handled it so well! Can't like, the man supposedly running this country is an idiot and waited close to two months to even think about doing something, so the US is a mess currently. But thank you. So far, we're surviving and that's all I can hope for right now.

[identity profile] haldoor.livejournal.com 2020-07-29 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, that is a big percentage. Keep safe, my dear! Here's hoping it's recoverable for those who have it, and that no one else gets it.

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2020-07-29 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. :) This is what happens when 2/3 of your work is in an actual hospital. Even with all the precautions they've taken, a lot of people are still getting sick. :(

[identity profile] severina2001.livejournal.com 2020-08-01 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh, alllll the stress. Is there any chance that you can go get tested just to make sure if you tell them that you have been exposed? At least then you could rest easier knowing for sure, one way or the other.

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com 2020-08-02 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately, with the surge in cases right now, they're only testing if you're showing symptoms. So, I probably can't at the moment. It's a good idea though, but I'm not stressing it too much either. At this point, I feel like it's almost inevitable that I will eventually get it. I hope not, but you know what I mean, I think.
