August Rush Day 20: Almost Human "Sucker"

Summary: On a rare occasion, you can still fool him.
Author's Notes: Holy crap, it's over already? Wow. Just when I think I was finally getting the hang of this, too. A drabble and a half at 167 words.
“So, what exactly are we looking at?” Kennex asked, staring at the information in front of him.
“It’s a vid screen, John. With specifics about our proposed suspects. How did you make detective without knowing that?”
Detective Stahl covered her growing grin with a hand, mostly stifling the laughter bubbling up inside of her.
“What the hell, Dorian? Are you low on charge again? Because if you are…”
Maldonado cut him off. “Dorian was just with Rudy getting a tune up, John. I think maybe his literal thinking processes might be a little too uh, tight.”
“Well, if he keeps this up, I’m going to rattle it loose. With my hands around his –”
“John,” Stahl choked out, laughter still clogging her throat. “Can we move on? These are our suspects. Captain, you want to go over them?”
“Indeed.”
As Captain Maldonado launched into her discussion of possible perps, Kennex gave Dorian a sideways look. The DRN gave him a cocky half-smirk in return. He’d been played.

End note: I totally wanted to finish this off with a good, son of a bitch, but then I realized that was Dean talking and not Kennex. LOL
