August/September TV/Movie Recap

I realized that I never did this last month. I mean, I know y’all are SOOOOOOO disappointed, right? /sarcasm

August TV:

The Fades. An odd British horror series.

The Umbrella Academy Season 1. Taylor and I really enjoyed this. In proofreading, I realize we also watched season 2, but I couldn't tell you when.

Shut Eye Season 1. Okay, I’m in love with this show. But there are only a couple of seasons, so I had to refrain from devouring the rest.

Shakespeare ReTold. Another British series that puts a modern twist on Shakespeare. Not bad.

September TV:

Goliath Season 2. Love this series. Another that I have to pace myself with so I don’t run out. LOL

My Life is Murder Season 1. I love Lucy Lawless and she is SO GOOD in this series.

ClickBait. A limited series on Netflix about a man who is kidnapped and a video of him goes viral. Really good.

Only Murders in the Building. Super cute murder mystery series with Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. This is in progress on Hulu, a couple episodes to be released still.

Nine Perfect Strangers. What a bonkers ass show. LOL Based on the novel by Liane Moriarty who also wrote Big Little Lies and others. Melissa McCarthy truly was the star of this.

CSI: Miami Season 1 (partial). Started this for reasons and am actually enjoying it so far. Only a handful of episodes in so far though. Kinda lost my watching mojo this month.

August Movies:

Empire Records. I can’t remember why I dug this out, but this movie is a favorite of mine.

Val. Val Kilmer’s video memoir of sorts that’s on Amazon Prime. It was fascinating but left me feeling very sad about what has happened to him.

A Kind of Murder. Still not sure WTF happened in this movie.

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. The Wicher + anime? Hells yeah. It was actually some pretty decent backstory.
The Empire Strikes Back.

The Return of the Jedi. Slowly making my way through the Star Wars movies.

Kill Me Again. An old Val Kilmer movie that was very much a product of it’s time (the 1980’s). Weird, but fun.

Shadow of the Vampire. Fictional account of the making of Nosferatu. I think I need to rewatch this to fully absorb all that happened. I’d rec though.

September Movies

Here and Now. A strange but emotional movie about a woman who discovers she has a terminal brain tumor.

The Furnace. A creepy AF horror movie that I should not have been watching so damn early in the morning. Very B-movie horror, but good just because of that.

The Starling. A sad but hilarious movie about a woman and her husband dealing with the death of their infant. Again, Melissa McCarthy is amazing.

I think that’s everything. I tend to forget to log what I watch with Taylor, so things might be missing. Like when she goes on Great British Bake Off binges.

In Progress:

CSI: Miami Season 1

Star Wars rewatch

On deck to watch soon:

I’ve obtained several DVDs the last couple weeks: Proof of Life, Sleepless in Seattle, and The Lost Boys. I also have season 2 of Law and Order, Baptiste, and a couple of Romanian language movies that I need time to sit and read the subtitles on. As far as shows go, I usually pick something at random that sounds good. But since Maddie has given me her Crunchyroll login info, there’s a bunch of anime I want to watch, starting with Jujustu Kaisen.

Wait. Wait just a goldarned minute. ROBERT SHEEHAN IS IN THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY??? I adore him! So, it is filmed here and a little local girl who was cast in it was interviewed on our news and I totally got the impression that it was some kind of boarding school show and never gave it another thought. Meanwhile it looks fun and crazy and ROBERT SHEEHAN.

Clearly I must get Netflix.

Budget, schmudget.

Hah! I had to Google him, but yes! And his character is my favorite on the show. I thought the same thing when I saw the previews, but it's a great show. :)

(Lord the streaming services I subscribe to... *sigh*)
