The Princess Bride crosses all genres of television apparently

Despite the oddness of the storyline these last few seasons, Dean Winchester is still made of win.

So, if you've seen the end of season 9, you know that Dean is now the Deanmon.  And I like it.  He's sassy and out of control and just so damn... yum.  Even when he's singing bad karaoke.  But I digress.

Last night, we were watching last week's episode and freaking DEAN WINCHESTER made a reference to one of my very favorite movies: The Princess Bride.  Even my husbad about fell out of his chair laughing at that point.  And now I have proof that I am not the only one to love that movie.  It probably didn't help that Dean had a guy hunting him because he had *cough* killed his father.  Thus, the Inigo Montoya reference.  Too bad Dean doesn't have six fingers on his left hand.

So, TV keeps reminding me that this movie has had a wide and varied effect on people all over the place.

First, it was Morgan in Chuck.

And now on Supernatural.

So, there, honey.  Take that.

(And let's not even mention the fact that they also referenced Franklin & Bash on last week's episode because that's just beyond awesome.)

SPN has always been made of geeky win! :D

OMG, yes it has been! The French Mistake. The Christmas special episode. Gah, all of it.

And I cannot WAIT until the 200th episode to see what kind of bizarrity we get.

THE PRINCESS BRIDE WINS!

Seriously, it does. It didn't do that well when it was released, but it has honestly become one of the biggest cult movies because so many people adore it. I've watched it more times than I can count because it's just that good! It's because it's not a kissing movie has a little of everything! *adores*

ALL THE AWARDS!

It really does though. And I know, I was reading something about how they had no idea how to market it because it was so many things. I'm right there with you. I could probably recite the entire movie from beginning to end from memory. It's just way too good.

I get teased because anytime I'm asked what my favorite movies are, I say, "The Princess Bride", "Tombstone" and the original "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory". People think I'm nuts. LOL

Those are all great movies!

I would add "Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid", "Alien" and "Making Love". But then, I have weird taste too! ;-)

Thanks. :) There are more, I'm sure, but those are my go-tos.

"Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid" is a classic. I've not seen "Alien" although I know my husband likes that one. Haven't ever heard of "Making Love" though. Hmmm...

Psst... one of my very favorite LOL movies is called "Real Genius" starring a very, very young Val Kilmer. You want to talk about weird tastes? Watch that movie. Hah.

oh yeah, there are so many good ones. With you on the go-to's.

'Making Love' is an early 80's film about a married couple where the husband (Michael Ontkean) finds himself increasingly attracted to men, and finally comes out to his wife (Kate Jackson) when he's started an affair with a writer (Harry Hamlin). Very ahead of it's time when it came out, and three of my fave actors too.

I must look out for 'Real Genius' too! ;-)

Yup, and I usually have at least one for every mood. :)

Oh nice, it reminds me of a movie I saw a couple years ago called "Kawa". It's set in Hawaii, I think. Very good movie, if a bit heart-breaking. I looked this up this morning and found a used DVD on Amazon for $3. LOL I'll have to let you know what I think once it gets here.

I wasn't familiar with "Kawa" and looked it up... it was originally called "Nights in the Garden of Spain" and is set here in New Zealand - I have actually seen it (hardly surprising, really!), so I had a bit of a giggle to myself! (and Maori and Hawaiian cultures are very similar as they are probably from the same ancestry ;-) ) This is based on a book called "Nights..." by one of NZ's foremost Maori writers, Witi Ihimaera.

Have you watched "making Love" yet? I definitely want to know what you thought of it!

OH! I didn't realize it was set in NZ. It was a really good movie, if a bit hearbreaking at times. I'm going to have to look the book up now.

Okay, so you might even know this by now as I gave you your own post, but I did finally watch it and I loved it.

Glad to see you adding the book to your Goodreads list! ;-)

Hee, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. You gave me a post about one of my all-time favourite movies. After my afternoon, you making me smile is such a wonderful thing. *kisses*

I am not called the book whore deluxe for nothing. ;)

Aw, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH TOO. And I'm even happier that I could make you smile on a rough day. Double thanks for actually posting on my Blogger post as well.
