Update: Jan 8, 2024
Good morning!
Just as a warning, these might get long until I figure out what I want to include. So, bear with me while I figure this baloney out.
First of all: the kids.
Taylor's in Sacramento right now, visiting a friend. Her work schedule gave her an opening and she jumped on it. Unfortunately, she not only left on her sister's birthday, but Maddie had to get up at 8 AM on her day to take Taylor to the airport. LOL They're both doing well, even if Taylor stole the new suitcase I got for Christmas.
Next: the cats.
Sunny and Violet are well, Sunny and Violet. The boys are now seven months old and hell on wheels. Hoons on four paws even. All four are happy and healthy. Even if the older two are consipiring to murder the babies.
What I've been watching:
Not much. Taylor and I are almost finished with The Good Place. I'm glad she finally gave in and watched it with me, too. On my own, I've been watching season 2 of The X-Files and have been enjoying it. For background noise, I've been putting on old episodes of Chopped. I discovered that they're all on Max/Discovery+ and that there are FIFTY-SEVEN SEASONS of this show. 🤣 I'm currently on season 12. But it's something to put on while I lay in bed and read at night because I don't have to pay a whole lot of attention to it. That is, unless Aarón Sánchez is judging and then I'm glued.
(I'm mildly annoyed that all I could find were Masterchef gifs... none from Chopped.)
What I've been reading:
Finally freaking finished Two Dead Wives by Adele Parks. I don't know why it took me so long since it was actually a good book, but dang. Took me nearly two weeks. Review is here if you're interested and aren't my pal on Goodreads.
Also listened to Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree, which was fabulous. My mini-reivew is here.
I'm trying really hard to review more of the things I read this year, outside of the ARCs I request. Speaking of which, I have a 93% feedback ratio on Netgalley right now, which is better than it was. Hahaha. I also have seven books on my shelf to be read and reviewed.
Currently, I'm reading Lucky Bounce by Cait Nary. It's been a cute m/m hockey romance that has had me laughing out loud. But then, I'm pretty easily amused.
After I'm done with that, my next ARC is Madness by Antonia A. Hylton. For non-review purposes, maybe Out of the Fog by Clarissa Ross.
Lastly: writing.
Last year was one hell of a creative fail for me. So far this year, I've written one little short. My goal for the end of the year is to finish a fic I started back in 2017. I think that
sharpiesgal will be very happy if I ever manage to finish it.
I think that's all for now. Maybe tomorrow I'll do a photo post with all the silly boys and my sweet girls.
Oh, I did forget one thing - I managed three workouts last week. One yoga, one 20 minute 80's ride, and a mobility class. Aiming for at least three, but hopefully four this week.
Hope all is well in your little corner of the world.
