Weirdness
I think I might have encountered my first soverign citizen on the road today.
They're doing construction on the freeway (because I mean, what else is NDOT ever doing?), so the going was slow as I approached my exit ramp. Caught a glimpse of an odd license plate on a car in the next lane. On second glance, it simply said AMERICA across the top instead of the usual state. It had a US flag on the left side and 8 digits/letters instead of Nevada's usual 6. Since they were beside me and not next to me, I couldn't see if it had the usual 'not for hire' and other sov cit BS on it or not.
Just so bizarre. I knew we had those nutjobs here, but I thought they'd all be either up north in the red areas of the state or in Nye County with all the other wannabe rednecks. Not in the heart of Las Vegas. Hahaha.
For those of you out of the loop, American sovereign citizens claim that the United States federal government is illegitimate. Therefore, they don't have to pay taxes, register their cars, etc. I mean, I feel ya, boo, the US government is a hot ass mess right now, but really?
So, there's your weird bit for the day. Also, Wikipedia tells me this isn't unique to the US, there are sov cits in Canada, Australia, and the UK as well. Finally, some batsit craziness that is not central to the US. HAH.
(I love how Spotify will sometimes find the most appropriate songs to be playing when I'm writing crazy posts.)

Was it an actual plate? I've seen NH people write their own plate on cardboard.

It wasn't cardboard, but I don't think it was an actual plate either. More like one of the ones you can find in a gift store sometimes?

*sigh*
I can not wait for pistachio land!

I guess he was lucky he was on my right because there was an NHP vehicle on my left. LOL
Seriously. Time to go nuts for nuts. 🤣

Is that for my bad joke or the idiot without a proper plate taunting highway patrol? :D

Mostly, for the dad joke

I can live with that.

They just take the plates off here in Missouri. I've seen one replaced with a "Don't Tread on Me" plate. Lots of sovereign types around where I work and half of them drive militia mobiles.
Stay safe!

The number of cars I've seen driving around with those dealer tags you get when you buy a car and have been expired for six months... maybe that's them, too?
Hahaha — you need one of these then:

Ugh, I'm not surprised there are a lot where you are. Hopefully you never have to deal with any of them.
You, too!

A friend once remarked the same thing about the dealer tags and I've started to pay attention to them. I've maybe seen two the past year that are valid.
Nice magnet and that thought does go through my mind when I see those snowflakes. Lol.

Either everyone got lax during COVID when the DMVs were closed or they're overtly flaunting the system. I'd be too afraid. LOL
Right? It's as if they want to be discriminated against.
