Why do I do this to myself? 🤣
So, if you've been here for a while, you know I go on Netgalley sprees. I'll request a bunch of books, expecting to get rejected for 90% of them. And then I get the shock of my life when I'm approved for thirteen out of the fifteen I request.
Anyway, I've learned my lesson. I've always kept track, but now, before I request a new book, I make sure I have nothing else due around that time. So far, it's been working out well. I have five or six open Netgalley requests with several weeks between each publication date. No sweat, right?
Well, then the owner of the review site I work for posted a bunch of print books for request. I found a couple that sounded good and requested them. The publisher of one responded and said, "Hey, you think she'd want another?" Me, always on board for free books said, sure. Send it on. They both arrived last night. I have one more coming.
I'm adding them to my calendar today and realized I did not look at publication dates and now May and June are stuffed. *facepalm*
It'll be okay, I tend to get through at lesat one book a week, but dangit, I should have paid more attention. This is what I get for getting excited. Hahaha.
However, I am now very excited for one of the ones I received last night. It has a rec from Michael Connelly! So, let's hope it doesn't disappoint!

RIGHT? Hahaha — I wish. But, my boss is out today golfing so I might be able to sneak some reading in today.

You can do it, I know it! ;-)

LOL! I'm spending more and more time alone these days, so it ought to be no problem!

You will have to let us know how you liked them.

I agree, especially since some of them are from bigger publishers! I like having a packed reading schedule though. :D
Absolutely! I'll be sure to add them to my monthly recaps. :D

I've always wondered how Netgallery works. I've heard of it but never managed to sit my butt down and look into it properly. So, you just request ARCS and they choose you to get them? Then you, what, just make sure to write reviews in a few good places?

Yes, that's pretty much it. Sometimes, it takes a while to get approvals, but it does happen. You'll also get emails sometimes with things that are available to the first 500 people or whatnot.
Once you've read it, you write a review and send it through the 'submit feedback' button. But they also encourage you to post reviews to Goodreads, your blog, Amazon, etc.
