Kaige's Very Big Bosch Book Challenge
IS COMPLETE.
Mostly. I still have two short stories and one story collection to finish, but all the novels are DONE until November.
But... HARRY. ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Anyway... hit me with some of your favorite series. I mostly like to listen to mysteries and thrilers, but anything but romance is welcome. Clean romances are fine, but I cannot listen to sex scenes. Hahaha.
Happy Monday.

WOOHOO!!!! And you thought you wouldn't get it done!!!!
YAY!!!!!!!

I really didn't. And then I truly got hooked. Hah.
Oh, and I looked at a series I wanted to finish, realized it's been a long time since I read the first, discovered it's a 26 hour audio. 😬

That is so much time! Ugh. I'm dragging at 14!
no subject
I KNOW. I read it ten or so years ago and didn't realize it was over 500 pages. LOL But it's fantasy so...
You'll make it through the 14! I borrowed Switchblade from the library this morning and it's 50 minutes. Hah.

That Highwaymen one that I did a week or two ago was 2.5 hrs, and it had a very explicit sex sceen that had me thinking of you and the can't listen to it, but I was roaring with laughter.
I've got a little over 6 hrs left of it. and I've been trying to listen more than just in the car.

Oh man, I get so much secondhand embarrassment from listening to sex scenes! Happy it gave you a good laugh though.
You're on the downside of it now! WOOHOO.
I have a Bluetooth speaker in my shower, so I listen while I'm getting ready in the mornings, plus in the car. It does help me get an extra half hour or so in every day.

I have a tendency to be running for my life while I'm getting ready. I was in the shower and out of the house in 22 minutes. I can't listen duing that. My brain is just "run!run!"
But it does sound like a good idea if you can focus!

Oh god, I just had a flashback to Troy EVERY DAMN MORNING. He'd get out of bed, get dressed, and leave. That would stress me out so much.
I have to have some kind of downtime before I leave for work!
no subject
I would love to have that, and ideally it would happen, but it was 2 before I could go to sleep and 6:05 when I finally hit the shower. I don't love it, but that's how it goes.
no subject
Ah, that does change things. :/
no subject
That's all going to change when I get it together!
no subject
Do you have trouble sleeping or do you just have a hard time stopping whatever you're doing and stay up too late?
Hah! When you get it together, please let me know the secret. I could use some life advice right now. :D
no subject
Both. I have trouble sleepin on Sunday nights. and also, I'm on instagram too late most nights.
I will be sure to trade mark and franchise my secret! ;)

I can understand having trouble sleeping on Sunday nights. Haha — I did that to myself with my book last night. Ooops. But I was in bed by 9:30 (which is still really late for me.)
Patent that shit and make some money!!

Excellent work! My favourite detective series features Alex Delaware by Jonathan Kellerman, starting with When the Bough Breaks. I followed the books as they came out, starting in the 80s. Some were better than others, but I pretty much have all of them (and some of his others that are not Alex Delaware) up until the last few. I don't do audio books but I imagine they're available that way too. Alex isn't the detective, btw, he's a child psychologist who helps the cops, and his best friend Milo is a gay cop, so it's kinda different in some ways. Alex has a few romantic things happening through some of the books, and the main relationship that pops up (a bit off & on) is with his girlfriend Robin, who is an expert luthier. The psychologist background of the author probably helps make the stories fairly authentic, and there's not too many where kids have anything horrific happen, if that bothers you, but if there are a few, you can skip them as each is fairly much stand-alone except for bits of his personal stuff. No full on sex.
If you want something different - also no sex though very sensual - Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles! Not mystery or thriller so much as romantic lives of the undead, and the mystery of whether they're evil! Lol.

Thank you!
I read the first Alex Delaware novel about 10 years ago and never made it past the first book. The whole plot revolving around autistic kids being molested made me ill. So, I've been very hesitant to dive back into them. Harming kids is a huge trigger for me.
LOL! I've read all of those minus the three Lestat novels she released a few years ago. Have them on my Kindle, but haven't managed to read them yet!

Ah well. I totally get that, but most of them are not about kids, so you could always skip on through. Just read the blurbs to see what the gist is. I find he writes very well, although there were a couple later on that I found harder to get through.
LOL! I should have known that. I'm not as enamoured of Anne Rice's later Lestat stuff; and even the Wolf stories felt a bit like a repetition of the vampire lore in some ways... but I did love her way back when. I need to try out her Angel series though; not sure if I'll ever read the Christ books though. And I say that as a fan...

I'll have to do that. See what the library has. I did enjoy the writing in the one I did read, but maybe it was too well written? LOL
The first four were probably the best, honestly. After that, they were hit or miss. I'll eventually get to the others, but no idea when.

I remember being seriously into Jonathan Kellerman and then Faye Kellerman so they might be worth a looksee. I used to love the Bosch novels!

I tried to read a Jonathan Kellerman novel about 10 years ago, but the plot made me literally sick to my stomach (autistic kids being molested). So, I might pass on any more books by him. However, Faye Kellerman I see all the time in the bookstore. Will have to research her a bit more.
I'm really glad I was pointed towards Bosch. They're all such great books.

As soon as someone asks for recs every book I have ever read goes right out of my head. lol
Have you read Chet and Bernie mystery series? It is a mystery series that is from the pov of the dog Chet and is really good. Also The Unexpected Inheritance of Inspector Chopra is also really good. I love the writing. T author manages to write really compelling serious mysteries but there is also a thread of humor running throughout.
I totally understand I end up fast forwarding through the sexy times in romance books. It is just too much via audio. lol

Thanks!
Hah, I know, right? I might have just finished ten five star books and can't think of a single title.
I have not read the Chet and Bernie series yet, but I know they're really popular. I'm going to add them to the list, thank you!
It's so weird. I have no issues reading them, but hearing it? No thanks. :D
