July Books

I haven’t made one of these posts in a while, but want to get back at it, hopefully.

Honestly, I didn’t think I’d read all that much last month, but now that I’m looking at it, I guess I did.

What I read:

A Sweet Sting of Salt by Rose Sutherland.  A pretty interesting mermaid tale with a f/f twist to it.  Even though there isn’t a lot of romance, it’s still there.

Wicked Opportunity by Sian Ceinwen.  I borrowed this through Kindle Unlimited – holy crap, TWO YEARS AGO?  LMAO.  Yikes.  Anyway, it started out pretty decent and then devolved into pretty much PWP.  Will not be finishing the series.

House of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen.  This was an ARC I got through Netgalley.  I love her books, and the ones she co-writes with Greer Hendricks.  This was probably the best of any of hers alone or co-written to date.

A Total Witch Show by Dakota Cassidy.  The next to last installment in her Witchless in Seattle series.  Love this cute, paranormal cozy series, it’s a lot of fun.  Glad she continued on with these characters in a new ‘series’.

Just Witched by Dakota Cassidy.  Stevie and Win finally get married in this last in the series.  Am eager to start on the new spinoff series with these two, but I have others I need to finish before I start back up with these.

Someone in the House by Barbara Michaels.  A read for my gothic romance book club.  Really liked this one because it was more like The Shining in the sense that the Overlook Hotel was what was evil, rather than a ghost or a bad person.  Very dated however, but still a good read.

Goodbye Earl by Leesa Cross-Smith.  Inspired by the song by The Chicks and, you guessed it, Earl’s gotta die.  Truly enjoyed this, despite the running theme of domestic violence.

Breakup by Dana Stabenow.  My women’s mystery writers group has been buddy reading this series and I’ve been enjoying it a lot.  The books are old, in that the one I just read was set in the mid-90’s sometime.  She just released a new one last year, so hopefully Kate is in the current day by then. LOL

What I’m currently reading:

Hunter’s Moon by Dana Stabenow.  August buddy read for my women’s mystery writers book group.

Found by Chance by Gareth Chris.  An ARC I volunteered for because of the threesome situation.  I’m calling it *cough* research *cough*.

Witch, Please by A.J. Macey.  A smutty, witchy reverse harem.  I mean, why the hell not?

I have a bunch of other books still lingering on my ‘currently reading’ shelf on Goodreads.  I really ought to focus on knocking some of those out here soon.  But hey, at least I got that one from TWO YEARS AGO done, right?  *headdesk*

A gothic romance club sounds awesome. I love a good gothic romance.

I have read Dana Stabenow before she is a good writer. I'm glad you are enjoying the series.

It's a pretty great group and I've found some really good books through them, too.

This series is great. Kate is feisty and empowered and learning about the Aleut tribes in Alaska has been interesting.
