Summary: It’s date night and Zayne has a revelation.
Author’s Note: Written for the weekend challenge at 1_million_words.  My prompts were, “You're So Vain” and “Fragrance was the sharpest trigger of memory, a transport into forgotten worlds.”  Wasn’t quite able to work siren into this, sorry.  Also, I don’t like this.  I did while I was writing, but I was also drinking overmuch last night (I was a mess), so apparently drunk me and sober me have different tastes.  Who knew?  I feel like it’s missing something but since I can’t figure out what, here you go.

Sometimes...

I come up with a line and think, "Oooh, that's good."  And then I realize I don't have the plot to pull it off.  🤣

The line in question: Because if his life was as neat and orderly as it was perceived to be, he wouldn’t be in this current mess, up to his elbows in dirty laundry and regrets.   

Where is this going?  I have no idea.  You'll know when I do.  Maybe.
