Drabble written for Day 7 of the August Rush challenge over at
1_million_words. Photo prompts are here.
Fandom: Almost Human
Pairings: John Kennex+Dorian+Unnamed OC
Rating: No rating because I'm back to being ridiculous.
Summary: John is not convinced the MX-43 is the perfect partner. Not that that surprises anyone.
Author's Notes: For reasons that may or may not be obvious, I'm a bit off my game today. Hopefully this can bring a bit of a smile. Drabble and a half at 155 words.
“Gentlemen, these are your new partners. Meet the MX-43, a combat ready android unit. They are to assist your every need. The MX can act as a human partner would by providing backup and assessing situations, but they can also provide information, prioritize, and much, much more.” She looked around the room at the new officers and nodded. “They are the perfect partner.”
“No they’re not,” Kennex griped, walking past the department’s newest propaganda master. “They’re annoying. They’re arrogant. And they’re generally no fun at all.”
“Detective, they’re not supposed to be fun. They’re designed to be functional.”
“Someone needs to tell the DRN that then,” he said. “But it’s not going to be me.”
The departmental liaison to the new officers opened her mouth to respond when Dorian strolled past, juggling six revolvers and singing an ancient show tune. She looked at Kennex, questioning.
He shrugged. “Told you someone needed to inform the DRN.”
