Fandom: Almost Human
Pairings: Rudy + Dorian
Rating: G
Summary: Dorian helps Rudy figure out why his repairs aren’t working.
Author's Notes: Triple drabble! Do I get bonus points for that?  312 words.

“Okay,” Rudy muttered to himself, maybe if I try this…”  He fiddled with the screwdriver he held, toggling the screw back and forth.  He looked at the screen, nothing.  “Or maybe not.”

He set the screwdriver down and scratched at his head.  “You have any ideas, Dorian?  I’ve done everything I could think of, but it’s still not working.”

“That’s very unlike you, Rudy.  Generally you can fix anything and quickly.” He studied the smaller man for a moment, observing the frown on his face.  “Maybe you aren’t holding your mouth right,” he suggested.

“My mouth?”  Rudy shook his head.  “What are you talking about?”

“The last time I watched you repair something, you held your mouth like this.”  Dorian screwed his face into something Rudy’d never seen before.  “But this time, you were holding it like this.”  Here, he frowned, corners of his mouth pulling downwards, lips puffing outwards.

“I – uh, never mind.  I’ll try it.”  At this point, he had nothing left to lose if it didn’t work.  Scrunching his face up in a parody of the one Dorian had made, he fiddled with the device again.

“Rudy, it’s working,” Dorian announced.

“You’re kidding me,” he muttered, looking at the screen again and seeing it lit up.  “I’ll be damned.”

“I don’t quite understand why you would want to be, Rudy.  Just be happy it’s working again.”  Dorian looked off in the distance for a moment and nodded to no one.  “I have to leave, John is looking for me.”

“Goodbye, Dorian,” Rudy said as he left.  “I swear, I will never understand those DRNs.  They can be so odd.”

The affection lacing the words belied his statement, however.  Although he might never understand Dorian, he sure did like him.  Turning to the next project, he arranged his face in yet another goofy look and tackled the malfunctioning electronic device.
