Drabble written for Day 19 of the August Rush challenge over at
1_million_words. Photo prompts are here.
Fandom: Almost Human
Pairings: John Kennex+Dorian+Detective Paul
Rating: T for implied naughty things.
Summary: Detective Paul discovers something unsettling with the DRNs.
Author's Notes: Wow. Are we already at day 19? I can't believe I've managed to keep up like this. Wow. Inspired by an actual scene from the show. Double drabble at 216 words.
“So, that’s what they look like, huh?” Detective Stahl appraised the naked DRN being repaired before her.
“It’s disgusting,” Detective Paul spat, looking horrified at what stood several yards away. “Why would anyone give a synthetic one of – of those?”
Stahl grinned. “If you don’t know, I’m not going to tell you, Paul.”
“You’re as bad as their creator,” he said. Turning to the MX standing in the background, Detective Paul asked, “You’re not built like that, are you?”
“No sir,” the MX replied, looking sheepishly at his feet. “I am not.”
“So why is he then?” Paul couldn’t get past the fact that the DRN was anatomically correct. So very anatomically correct.
Detective Stahl shrugged. “We can always ask Kennex. I bet he’s got a few interesting – and colorful – theories on the subject.” The smirk on her face spoke more loudly than her words had.
“You need help,” he growled. “And you will not ask Kennex his opinion on this because I do not want to know what he thinks or why he thinks it!”
Stahl stifled the grin until Paul was out of the vicinity. “Oh Rudy, I owe you for that. It’s not very often Paul’s at a loss for words and this was too perfect.”
Rudy grinned. “Anytime I can help, detective.”
