OMG, Guys!

Guess what? I’M GETTING A NEW OFFICE.
A little backstory:
When I started this job back in 1997 (I know, and I haven’t murdered anyone yet, impressive, no?), they were starting an addition to the building. For most of the 24 years I’ve been here, Qualcomm rented the space in the addition. The last couple years, it was someone else, and they moved out late last year.
Since Tim and Patrick, two of the brothers who used to run this company with their brother, Jeff (but have since retired), own the building. Tim was in here last week, having me write a letter allowing a demolition company to come in and remove walls, etc. So, I knew something was going on with the addition. However, I thought they were getting it ready for another new tenant.
I had no idea we were going to be moving into it. YAY.
Demo is going to start in the next couple of weeks and Jeff estimates that it’ll take a couple of months to complete. Then, they can start construction. I’m not sure how long it will take, but I’m not expecting it to be anytime soon either. Maybe by the end of the year, if we’re lucky.
The best part though is that there will be a WALL and a DOOR between me and the ‘estimating department’ (meaning those two damn loudmouths, Ralph and Joel, plus the ‘boys’). I will no longer have to strain to hear actual phone calls because they are yelling at each other or into the phone. SCORE! And they’ll supposedly be fixing the intercom system which hasn’t worked since they replaced the phone card ten years ago.
Now, I just have to find a home for all the books I have stashed here in the office. Hahaha. In my defense, there was a period of a few years where I had nowhere to eat lunch (I got booted from my desk because I shared an office with the guys’ dad) and went to a shopping center near my office that had the most amazing Borders in it. Sneaking them into the house without Taylor Security catching me will be difficult, but I will manage. LOL
