And so now I have completed the third book in the 2015 Book Challenge that I stole.

09 A book by a female author Death in High Places by Jo Bannister.

I love a good mystery, and this was billed as such, but I'm not sure there really was much mystery to be had.  It leaned much towards the thriller end of mystery/thriller, but that in itself isn't a bad thing.

I will say that this book took me a bit by surprise.  In the beginning, it all seems pretty straight forward and you think you know what the underlying issue is.  Before long, you find out you're wrong.  And then you think you're right again.  By the end, you don't know what to think.  Although the ending is a bit predictible, I think the book throws enough twists at you - as well as feeds you enough doubts - to keep you a bit off kilter until the end.  Or, at least, it did me.

I really liked Nicky Horn and I kept worrying that he might be lying about what happened up on the mountain that day four years ago.  I also liked Mack a lot for about the first third of the book.  After that, his true colors show and you aren't sure if you can trust him or not.  Beth, on the other hand, I pretty much couldn't stand her from the moment we met her.

Next up on the list is #26: To the Stars The Autobiography of George Takei Star Trek's Mr. Sulu by (duh) George Takei.  Now #26 says 'a memoir' but I'm taking poetic license with this list and going for it.  Hah.  But before I start that, I'm going to take a quick dip with a short little number called The Gentleman and the Lamplighter by Summer Devon.  (Go ahead, click on the link.  The cover for this book is delicious.)  Mr. Takei and I (and possibly Brad, too,) shall settle down later.
