So, I finally managed to sit down and watch the two-hour season premier of Heroes Reborn and I have some seriously mixed emotions about this.

(As a silly side note, we went from Heroes Reborn to the season premier of Castle in which Jack Coleman guests...)

What I liked:

HRG is back.  I want to know what he was made to forget that would make the Hatian want to kill him because that has to be some serious stuff right there.  I had a big time love/hate relationship with Noah in the original series.

Tommy Clarke.  I love the idea of being able to send people somewhere other than where they are just because you're tired of them. Hah.  His relationship with the girl from school reminds me of the one Claire had with her friend in Odessa in the beginning.

Mohinder.  WTF is going on here?  But then, he did get the short end of the stick nine times out of ten in the original series.

What I didn't really care for:

Soooooo many storylines at one time.  I know that they did this in the original series, but I think they did a better job of presenting information the first time around.  They were a little too vague this go 'round.

Real lack of information overall. I know that they can't give out all the secrets in the first two episodes, but I need a little more information to keep me interested.

Luke and Joanne.  As much as I hate to say this, but so far, their storyline seems rather superfulous.  I love Zachary Levi and am thankful he has a new series, but... what if their son had died in a plane crash?  Would they be going super ninja on pilots everywhere?  And where did they learn these skills?  Does Luke have the Intersect?

I'm on the fence about the whole video game quest.  If it's supposed to be a more modern version of the comic books Hiro and Ando used then it's a flop so far.  But I'll reserve total judgement for a few more episodes.

Overall, it was a little slow but not awful and I'll definitely keep watching.  I mean, I did make it all the way through season three of the original series.  If I can make it through that mess of a season, I can make it through eleven more episodes of this.

(Secondary side note: I've not moved on to Geeks Who Drink and continue to prove what an epic dork I am.)

Hey there!
So glad you summed it up like this. I agree with ...most of it ;) It was a ton of information, story lines, and general bouncing in the back of the truck ride. I thought the video game quest was a big snore, though I'm probably not the person to judge them since I have a lack of interest there so they could do anything and I wouldn't necessarily buy into it.

But Luke and Joanne - okay, Luke ;) It may be superfluous, but on the other hand, I have heard of circumstances in the news where a parent seems to latch onto a blame and adopts a personal vendetta or better, a conviction or purpose of a cause that lights them on fire. (Hm, for some reason, John Walsh just came to mind, but you get my idea.) The vendetta, of course, being more along the lines of the parents you've seen in the news who wait outside the courthouse as their child's killer or rapist is sentenced.

As far as where they learned the skills, let's stick with the Intersect for now, 'kay? :)

Yes, I can see how it is a further stretch to blame the evos for his death, not as direct as the examples I gave, but as long as Zach is flashing his bad ass brown eyes at my TV, I guess I can fall under the spell for awhile - LOL.

Yeah, I loved the whole comic book thing in the original series because it tied back to Isaac Mendez and NYC in general. But this video game aspect, they'd better cough up some better info quick on that. I sit around and watch enough game play as it is... I don't need it on my TV shows too. :D

While I understand that, it's usually one target they're enacting justice on, not an entire race of people. Know what I mean? Going after the one person who hurt your kid? Okay. Going after every last person that may or may not have hurt your kid? It's a stretch. Kind of like killing all men with brown hair because a man with brown hair murdered your son. Once we get more back story, it might make perfect sense, but for right now, it seems odd.

What Troy and I have come to believe is that Joanne will break off from Luke and continue to be a vigilante while Luke is bound to hook up with Noah and work with him and Hiro and Matt Parkman and whoever else they're dragging back into this. :D Oh, and clear Dr. Suresh's name.

Guys? I know Kung-Fu!

Yanno, as much as I love Zac (and you know I do), I'd rather him not be on the show than have a crappy story line. If this was a book? I'd have DNF'd it by now. LOL But that's just me. I have a freaking DVR full of stuff I need to watch. Which reminds me, I need to see if season 3 of Orphan Black is on Netflix so I can delete those from the DVR.

I am glad that he has a series again though. Hopefully it'll lead to something more permanent in the future.

I guess now we wait and see what we get this Thursday. :) In the meantime, I'm dying to know WTF is happening on Castle. GRRR. You're not supposed to start the season with a two-parter!

I know you'll LOL at this, but that whole comment - what leapt out to me? Luke is bound to hook up with Noah HAHAHA. I know it wasn't meant that way, but you know I see everything with slash-coloured glasses!

HAHAHAHA... and you know what? I always re-read before I post and I had the same reaction when I did my quick once over before posting this. I almost changed it and then thought, nah...

So glad I didn't now!

ETA: I have a book rec for you, too, but I haven't had a chance to write up the review yet. Keep your eyes peeled. :D

Okay, so I purposely held off commenting till I'd actually watched the show, because y'know, spoilers.

Anyway, I am pleased to say we're getting this the same week as the US! YAY, go, us. We'll see how long it lasts in prime-time around here.

Anyway, as I only ever saw S1 of the original series, I cannot comment on much happening that appears to be a continuation of the last series...

I do love HRG though; got so excited seeing him. :D

Otherwise, I enjoyed the pretty Hispanic brothers and was so upset when Oscar (? bad memory for names) died. Anyway, I'm just waiting for the pretty left-alive brother to discover his own powers and to see his nephew's too.

Luke and Joanne are perhaps a little OTT as you mention, but I suspect you have the right of it, because I can already see in Luke's eyes that he's not so keen on the whole killing thing - it was okay when it was adults, but I don't think he was looking very happy about the idea of killing Tommy, in all honesty.

I'm not so hooked on the game thing either, but I'm constantly this close to giggling when the Japanese two are onscreen as it seems so corny and totally Japanese! My daughter says they have such totally anime hairstyles, which they really do!

Anyway, I too am going to stick with it for now, and see where it leads, even though I didn't finish with the original series.

Oh, and I didn't think I knew this Zachary Levi guy, but he shore is purty! I think I like to watch him.

I don't blame you at all!

OMG, that's amazing and astounding that you're getting it the same time as we are.

Honestly, season 1 of the original series was about all that was worth watching, although I did really enjoy the series finale. But no, outside of a few recurring characters (HRG, Hiro, Matt Parkman, Mohinder, Micah, Molly, etc), there's not much to tie it to the original series so far.

Yes, I think it was Oscar because Carlos is the one who is still alive (and my gods, they ARE pretty, aren't they? I love Hispanic men though...). But yes, I can't wait for him to find out his nephew has powers.

Right. If they were a lot less professional assassin-like maybe it'd be more believable. But HRG has been doing this for decades - abducting, testing, and returning the 'Evos' and he still got thwarted and overthrown at times. How are these two so good? But yes, let's hope that he's going to come to the right side of the battle.

Yes, you're daughter is on the nose, especially where Ren is concerned. Miko, the girl, looks like one of the characters from Street Fighter. I said something very similar to Troy though - along the lines of I felt like I was watching an old Godzilla movie.

I agree. It's only 13 episodes, so I think I'll be able to stick it out until the end. i just hope that some of these storylines either get better or start to make more sense soon.

If it's on the kiwi version of Netflix, look up Chuck. It was actually on at the same time as Heroes. Heroes actually followed Chuck on Monday(???) nights here in the US. I think you'd enjoy it. Zachary Levi is a doll.
