Days 5 & 6

So, since I left my journal at work yesterday, I don’t have a quote for you. I know, you’re devastated, right?
Uh-huh, I didn’t think so.
But what this actually means is that I don’t have any direction to take in this long, rambling post today so um, you’ve been warned?
I guess what I’m thinking most about right now is my holiday baking. The last few years I haven’t been feeling it, but this year, I feel the urge. I need my house filled with those warm, sweet scents and the happiness on my family’s faces as they snitch every last thing I bake. But most of all… I love the looks on their faces when they try something that sounds so odd – like my blackberry sage thumbprint cookies – and discover that they’re actually really delicious.
When my 13-year-old started unloading the groceries I bought, she found the flour, sugar, and chocolate chips and immediately went into her victory dance. It was quite joyous. But then, she has a sweet tooth the size of Texas so…
And now things are about to get worse with this rambling, pointless blog because I never managed to finish it yesterday. Hahahaha… so you get two days’ worth of idiocy in one post. Hooray!
So, my husband started a new job back in June or so, back to doing what he loves instead of just eking out a living. This is wonderful, but he recently informed me that he has a Christmas party this coming Friday and oh wait, I have to look presentable.
Ugh, I hate this. I’m a simple person who likes simple clothes. I’m not fancy and although I make sure I look nice every day, I don’t like to dress up. Sadly, in this case, I have no choice and was forced to buy new clothes yesterday. The good news is, I managed to convince my husband and Taylor (my 15-year-old fashionista) that an oversized sweater and a pair of grey dress pants/almost jeans would work. YAY. So, I’ll look nice and still be comfortable – both in my clothes and in my skin. It’s a win!
And now, a little breakfast and then COOKIES. (Oh, and maybe, possibly posting this chapter I’ve been holding hostage for three days?)

Date: 2015-12-06 07:53 pm (UTC)Yay for enthusiastic kids! I should get more enthusiastic about baking, but actually now I have three teenagers, I feel like they should do more with their time off - two are out of school for the year and one has only a week to go. Those girls only work 2-3 times a week, so yeah, you get why! And in all honesty, I'm pretty much 100% sure that the Christmas cakes (two) will be made by the hubby - thank goodness he loves cooking and baking!
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, you posted it! I'm there next! ;-)

Date: 2015-12-07 05:09 pm (UTC)Hah - my kids like the idea of helping mostly. Although, if they're in the mood, they will dive right in and help like pros. Hah - yes, they should help out! :) Good for your hubby! Mine likes to grill, but other than that, getting him to cook dinner is impossible.
YAY! I'm excited that you're excited!
