Summary: Travis catches Ethan cheating.
Author’s Note: Written for the February Bingo Challenge at 1_million_words. This covers the square for ‘betrayal’ and as stupid as this is, it’s probably the worst kind of betrayal for someone like Travis. :D
“I saw you,” Travis said.
He couldn’t believe it either. His husband – husband! – was cheating on him. Right there in plain sight. How could this happen? He’d trusted Ethan with his heart, everything, and this is the repayment he gets?
Ethan closed the patio door behind him and gave Travis a curious look. “You saw me on the swing reading?”
“Oh, it seems like that’s all it was, mister, but you know what you were doing was wrong.”
Ethan blinked. Setting his book down, the cover caught his attention and something occurred to him. “You’re mad.”
“Damn right I’m mad,” Travis harrumphed, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Even though this is your fault?” Ethan’s eyes fell on the book cover again.
“You cheating on me is my fault now?” Travis threw his hands into the air. “How the hell is this my fault?”
“Because,” Ethan laughed, moving closer to his husband. His fingers grazed the curve of Travis’ jaw, eliciting the slightest touch of a smile. “You. Bought. That. Book. For. Me.”
“Oh,” Travis said, shoulders slumping. “I did, didn’t I?”
Shit.
“Yes, you did,” Ethan said. “And it’s been very good so far.”
“But not as good as mine are, right?”
“Of course not, baby,” Ethan soothed. “Nothing is as good as your books.”
“Damn right,” Travis grinned. “Kinda like nothing beats your kisses.”
That made Ethan grin. “You know it, Travis.”
“So, can I have one then? Since I’m not mad any longer?”
“Oh sure, cover up your accusations with a request for some loving,” Ethan teased. “You are so very predictable, you know that?”
Travis shrugged. “What can I say, I save all the mystery for my books.”
“Let’s keep it that way,” Ethan said, giving Travis a kiss on his nose.
“I can do that.”
