I just realized that I never posted my May update. Not that I think anyone missed it but whatever. I’ll give a brief run-down instead of my usual long and drawn out ramblings.
Read in May:
The Hellfire Club – Jake Tapper – DNF.
Not That I Could Tell – Jessica Stawser – thriller – 4/5
Click-Clack the Rattlebag – Neil Gaiman – audio horror short read by the author (swoon) – 5/5
Red Alert, NYPD Red #5 – James Patterson and Marshal Karp – mystery – 4/5
The 17th Suspect, Women’s Murder Club #17 – James Patterson and Maxine Paetro – mystery – 4/5
(My library likes to give me James Patterson books back to back… did it to me recently, too.)
The Owl Always Hunts at Night, Holger Munch & Mia Kruger #2 - Samuel Bjørk – mystery – 4/5
The Child Finder – Rene Denfeld – mystery – 4/5
Read in June:
UNSUB – Meg Gardiner – thriller – 5/5
The House Swap – Rebecca Fleet – psychological thriller – 4/5
According to a Source – Abby Stern – chick lit – 4/5
Paranoia – Shirley Jackson – short horror story – 5/5
A Higher Loyalty – James Comey – memoir – 4/5
Into the Black Nowhere – Meg Gardiner (UNSUB #2) – thriller – 5/5 (this series is freaking amazing)
Wrongful Death, Anna Travis #9 – Lynda La Plante – mystery – 3.5/5
Currently Reading/Next on the TBR:
Fifty Fifty, Harriet Blue #2 – James Patterson – mystery
The President is Missing – James Patterson & Bill Clinton – mystery
Lincoln’s Last Trial The Murder Case that Propelled Him to the Presidency – Dan Abrams
Meaty – Samantha Irby
As for what I’ve been watching…
May:
Voltron Season 5
The Good Place Season 1
LBJ – excellent movie. Woody Harrelson surprised me.
June:
A Single Man – this movie made me very, very sad, but it was also very well done.
The Perfect Guy – because any chance to see Michael Ealy play an obsessed psycho is a good one.
Thunderheart – this is an old one, from the early 90’s. My husband and I were joking about it (I love Val Kilmer and the subject of Top Gun 2 had come up one night) so I dug it out and gave it a re-watch.
Hawaii Five-0 Season 6, episodes 1-11 – wound up with a couple movies to watch so I put it aside for the moment.
Shades of Blue Season 3 – this is the final season so I’m kind of interested how they’re going to wrap it all up. But god help me, the last five minutes of episode 3 they FINALLY brought Stahl back. GEEZ. We know Harlee’s not losing her mind so GIMME MY CRAZYPANTS PSCYHO EX-FBI AGENT PLEASE.
Up Next:
I found my DVD copy of Real Genius and I want to watch that again soon. Also, there’s a new docuseries on Amazon called A Very English Scandal that I’m interested in watching. Plus, I have the first disc of season 1 of Third Watch at home, too, and the rest of season 6 of H50. Um…

Date: 2018-07-03 03:13 am (UTC)I watched 'A Single Man' some time ago - it truly is heartbreaking but also beautiful; the writing, pacing, how it's shot. It was not how I'm used to seeing Colin Firth, obs, but he did a great job of inhabiting the character.

Date: 2018-07-03 04:26 pm (UTC)Right? I was like standing there, staring at my computer (I was watching in the mornings while I made lunches for my husband and I) and trying not to bawl. I would like to watch it again sometime, but not too soon. :)

Date: 2018-07-04 11:41 pm (UTC)Oooh, a Single Man - so good. I love Colin Firth; have done since the first one I saw him in: Another Country (with Rupert Everett).
I'm almost at the end of S6 of H50 (one ep to go; they are playing it on free to air here, and I think I may have missed a few in the middle, so... ah well.) Enjoy, when you get back to it!
I'm interested in A Very English Scandal too, so I think I need to find that soon!

Date: 2018-07-05 12:23 am (UTC)I don't know that I've ever seen him in anything else, but I did love him in this.
Thanks! I just found an anime I love has a new season and there's a show on the BBC I want to watch so... UGH. But I will get there!
I've been hearing really good things about it so I can't wait. Oh - and have you seen/heard of Killing Eve? My husband, my younger girl and I are loving it. It's another BBC show. Thank the heavens for BBC America. :D
