Summary: Adrien’s trying to convince Elliot to do something he doesn’t want to do.
Author’s Note: Written for day 3 of the comment fic challenge at 1_million_words. Today’s prompt was ‘puppy dog eyes’. Thought I’d give Zayne a break for a change. LOL
“Quit it,” Elliot said, leaning over the coffee table to give Adrien a quick kiss. “It’s not going to work.”
Adrien batted his long, dark lashes in response.
“Nope,” Elliot said, holding up a hand. “Not falling for it.”
A pouty bottom lip poked out, looking like it wanted to be bitten. Elliot closed his eyes and pretended that he was at work. That it was his partner, Damon Garces, sitting across from him and not Nashville’s most eligible bachelor. Which, now that he thought about it… “Adrien?”
“Yeah?”
Elliot opened his eyes and Adrien was still giving him that look, the one that made him want to say yes to everything he was asked. “When that magazine told you that they were naming you country music’s most eligible bachelor, is there a reason why you didn’t tell them you were single?”
“You mean other than the fact that it’d cause a shitstorm of gossip that could only be tamed by the truth?”
He had a point, Elliot thought. “Okay, I’ll give you that,” he said. “I know how hard of a hit your career would take if the general public ever found out about us but…”
“It bugged you?” Adrien reached over and squeezed Elliot’s arm. “I know and I’m sorry. I meant to say something before it hit the shelves, but I got sidetracked.”
Elliot laughed. “You were in the middle of a national tour. Distracted is a bit of an understatement.”
“You forgive me?”
“There wasn’t ever anything to forgive, Adrien,” he said, honestly.
“Whew, good,” Adrien said, smiling. “So, about that other thing we were discussing?”
“No,” Elliot shouted. “And I mean it so you can put those damn puppy dog eyes away anytime now. We are not going to go ride camels at the fair.” He looked at the crestfallen expression on his boyfriend’s face and sighed. “I’m not going to ride a damn camel, but you are more than welcome to try.”
“Man,” Adrien whined. “I thought you loved me.”
Elliot rolled his eyes. “I do and if you let this go, I’ll take you on the Ferris wheel and kiss you at the top.”
Adrien snorted despite his mock anger. “You will not,” he said. “You might kiss me in line or while we wait for our food, but you’re not romantic enough to kiss me at the top of the Ferris wheel.”
“Guess you’ll never find out now, will you?” Elliot lifted his eyebrows and waited.
“Okay, fine, no camels,” Adrien huffed. “But I’m going to hold you to that promise, Deacon.”
“Whatever you say, Mr. Most Eligible Bachelor.”
