Title: Rom-Cuddling
Fandom: White Pine original fiction
Pairing: Ethan McDowell/Travis Murphy
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 296
Summary: Travis is having a tough time and wants to share a lighthearted movie with Ethan.
Author’s Note: Written for day 11 of the comment fic challenge at 1_million_words. My first thought was Bridget Jones’ Diary, but instead I ran with a favorite of my 19-year-old’s. Five bonus points to anyone who can guess.
“Why are we watching this again,” Ethan asked as Jack Black’s face filled the screen. “You know I’m not into this crap.”
Travis shushed him. “Don’t be such a grouch, E,” he said. “It’s a fun movie and some days, I need a movie that isn’t going to make me think too much.”
“Okay, I can understand that,” he said, leaving Travis’ struggles with depression and anxiety out of the discussion. “And I’ll do anything I can to make you happy and keep you that way.” He kissed the top of Travis’ head, grateful for their moments together, even if they were watching a ridiculous romantic comedy.
“Thank you,” Travis said, turning his face up so that he could smile at Ethan. He made fish lips at his husband until Ethan laughed and kissed him.
“One more question?”
“Shoot,” Travis said, snuggling back into the curve of Ethan’s body.
“I can live with the occasional rom com, but it’s the middle of the summer, Murphy. Why the hell are we watching a Christmas flick?”
Travis snorted. “Because it was on top of the pile?” He shrugged and gave a little sigh as Ethan’s arm wrapped around him. “You can pick the next one, promise.”
“And you won’t argue?”
“Nope,” Travis confirmed. “Not even if it’s not something I want to watch.”
“You’ve got yourself a deal,” Ethan said, turning his eyes back to the television. Despite his teasing, if Travis needed to watch this kind of movie tonight, he’d make sure not to pick something gory or too action-packed. The last thing he wanted to do was emotionally stress his husband, even accidentally. Luckily, Travis’ reclusive lifestyle had garnered him a large and varied selection of movies, most of which were worth watching over and over.
