Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 991
Summary: Trish and Hilary surprise the boys with a Christmas Eve present.
Author’s note: Written for the weekend challenge at 1_million_words. My prompts werepajamas pyjamas and camera. And well, even though it’s 100+ degrees outside, my mind went right to Christmas.
“What the hell are these,” James asked, pointing at three boxes wrapped in matching paper.
“Christmas Eve presents from Trish and Hilary,” Andrej explained. “Trish left them on my desk this morning.”
“And we’re supposed to open them tonight,” Zayne asked.
“That is what she said,” he confirmed. “She also said that we have to take a picture after.”
“Oh, that doesn’t sound good,” Zayne groaned. “But I guess we ought to get this over with now, so if we need to run over and strangle the girls we’ll have time to grab dinner after.”
James snorted. “I don’t know about you sometimes, cowboy.”
They situated themselves on the couch and Andrej passed the packages out according to the name tags. He sat between James and Zayne and looked at his boyfriends. “Are you not going to open yours?”
“I’m waiting to see what you two get first,” James said. “I don’t trust those two.”
“Same,” Zayne said.
“Fine,” Andrej muttered. He carefully opened one end of the package’s wrapping and flipped it around to open the other.
“He must have driven his siblings nuts when they were kids,” James said.
“We were lucky if we got more than one present when we were young,” Andrej muttered, not wanting to argue, but also not wanting to dampen anyone’s Christmas either. Removing the paper from the box, he lifted the lid and parted the tissue paper with one hand.
“Whatcha get,” Zayne asked, leaning over Andrej’s shoulder to sneak a peek.
“I do not have any idea,” he said, pulling out a grey flannel top decorated with cute Santas, polar bears, and Christmas trees.
“Oh shit,” James laughed. “They got you Christmas jammies. That’s actually kind of funny.”
“They’re soft, too,” Zayne said, running his hand along the pajama pants still in the box. “Bet that’s probably what’s in our boxes, gingerbread.”
James sighed. “I hate matching jammies, but they’re not as bad as I was anticipating, so okay.”
Andrej pulled the pants out of the box and set the box aside. A card fell out from the pajama pants and Zayne grabbed it off the floor.
“It says, ‘enjoy the jammies and we expect a pic of all three of you later’. It’s signed T and H.”
“Figures,” James grunted. He ripped the paper off his box, causing Andrej to flinch. “Sorry, Andy, but I don’t have your patience.”
“You don’t have to,” Zayne said, tearing his wrapping off as well. “But you don’t have to be so violent about it either.”
James ignored him and opened his box. “Wait, these are actually kind of cute.” He pulled a pair of red flannel pants out of the box and held them up. “They’re covered in llamas!”
Andrej leaned in close and smiled. “They are very happy looking llamas, too, Jay. But what is in the bottom of the box?”
“The shirt, I’m sure,” he said, setting the pants aside and grabbing the fluffy, white top. “Oh no. They didn’t. I’m going to throttle them both.”
“What’s the matter, gingerbread?” Zayne’s box was still unopened in his lap.
“Look at this shit,” he said, holding up the top angrily. “It has a fucking hood.”
“And cute little ears,” Andrej pointed out, squeezing one between his fingers.”
“This isn’t funny, Andy.”
“It’s kinda funny,” Zayne said.
“Yeah, open your box and let’s see how you feel then,” James spat.
Zayne made a face the second he saw the familiar red flannel pants. “Why does Zek get acceptable pajamas and we’re stuck with these ridiculous ones?”
“Other than the fact that Andy’s much nicer to us than either of you are,” Trish said, letting herself into the house. “Merry Christmas, assholes.”
James flipped her off.
“Be nice, both of you,” Andrej said, getting up and giving Trish a hug. “Thank you both for the pajamas,” he said as Hilary came inside and closed the door behind her.
“Yeah, thanks for nothing,” Zayne said, pouting.
“You two are no fun,” Trish laughed. “But go on, get changed. I was promised a picture.”
“Oh no,” Zayne said. “Hell no, I’m not putting that top on for anyone. I can deal with the pants, but the shirt is too much.”
“Agreed,” James said, sitting back and glaring at the girls.
“Well, okay then, I guess Andy’s the only one who gets to enjoy your real gift from us,” Hilary said. In her hand, she was holding a bottle of locally made whisky that they loved.
“Shit,” Zayne grumbled.
“Ditto,” James bemoaned.
“Guess you three are off to get changed,” Trish said, unable to hid her glee.
“I do not mind,” Andrej said after his boyfriends had stormed off down the hall. “But then mine did not come with a hood sporting ears either.”
“So, what do you think,” Trish said, leaning over and showing Hilary the picture she’d taken of James, Andrej, and Zayne dressed in their Christmas pajamas. “Should we post this to my Instagram account or should we hold onto it in case we need blackmail material later.”
“I think you need to keep the one I took of Zayne and the narco for blackmail material,” she said, showing Trish the picture she had on her phone. “Poor Andy doesn’t need to be included in that.”
“Good point,” Trish said, tucking her phone away. “Thank Jake for me later for that idea. It turned out better than expected.”
“You can thank Andy for that,” Hilary said. “He’s the one who pointed out the llama pajamas when we were at Target a few weeks ago getting stuff for your party.”
“Hah,” she shouted. “Now that’s some funny shit right there.”
“Agreed,” Hilary said. “But he made me promise never to tell, so you have to keep that to yourself.”
“Promise,” Trish said. “It’s enough just knowing.”

The pajamas really exist and you can find them at Target. Andrej’s are here (and yes, I know, these have snowmen and not polar bears, sue me). Zayne and James’ are here.
