Summary: Roderick hates waiting – in lines, on clients, on Kyle. Especially on Kyle.
Author’s Note: Written for the numbers challenge at 1_million_words. The prompt was 176.
Roderick looked at his watch and sighed. Of course, Kyle was late, Kyle had no perception of time or the value thereof. It frustrated and annoyed him, but what did he expect from an errant cowboy anyway?
“Why do I always attract the loser clients,” he muttered to himself as he paced the office.
A better question would be: why did he always fall for the most unreliable, untrustworthy men? His sister would say that was because he was attracted to men. That, in her opinion, was his biggest mistake. While she liked men, she hadn’t trusted one in years, thus her perspective on the whole situation.
The sound of his office door opening sent Roderick’s heart skipping. “It’s about time, Kyle. You were supposed to be here at one thirty.”
“What time is it now,” Kyle asked, coming into the office, boots caked with mud, dust lightly coating his handsome face.
“I don’t know, but it’s way past one thirty,” Roderick growled. “So far past, it’s closer to one seventy-six than it is to one thirty!”
Chuckling, Kyle moved closer and pressed a chaste kiss onto Roderick’s lips. “I love it when I get you so worked up that you can’t even tell time.”
“You know I hate you in moments like this, right,” Roderick countered.
“Maybe,” Kyle said, pressing his body against Roderick’s, “but not for long.”
