So, I wrote out this long and rambling post about an argument I had with someone on FB this morning in regards to Supernatural.

I think it's time to end, she thinks it should go on forever. She's also one of those people who feel like their opinion is the only right opinion. Whatever. To each their own, right? But I was so annoyed by the end, I deleted it all.

Then, I look in my email and see one of those 'We thought you might be interested in...' emails from Amazon. I open it and it's suggesting a cast iron... tortilla press? Like why? I've never, as far as I know, looked at something like that. At least, not online. I've looked at a few in Sur la Table or Williams-Sonoma, but never considered buying one.

I get the book recs, the gaming keyboard recs, the odd nail dryer... but a tortilla press? Someone needs to start using their own damn Amazon account.

So, yeah, these are the reasons I stopped posting personal stuff here. At least, ranty personal stuff. This, I figure, will at least make you laugh.

And no, I did not buy it either.

There are people who feel the same way about NCIS. Me, I think it's time to put it to bed. It's been on long enough.

I mean hell... Look how long it took for them to put Law and Order to bed.

Cast iron tortilla press???

*shakes head*

Zayne needs to quit sneaking on your Amazon account when he's bored and hungry...lol

Yes, I absolutely agree, and I've been watching NCIS since the beginning. It's what, on season 17 now or something? I do love Ellie and Nick, but man, when you've replaced 89% of your cast, it's time to stop. (Plus, I miss Ducky being on regularly.)

Wow, I had no idea that Law and Order was done. But seriously. Stop while you're ahead. *looks at Grey's Anatomy*

(Speaking of Grey's... Taylor started watching that and a friend said, "OMG, she CAN'T!" and when I asked why, she says, "There's a lot of sex stuff." I'm like SHE'S NINETEEN... lol)

Right? I mean, I'd use the hell out of it and can even find fresh masa in the stores but... DO I NEED IT? NO.

Very much this. He can go get a granola bar and watch YouTube videos for all I care, but leave my Amazon alone.

Law and Order stopped at 20 seasons, so that it wouldn't go past the 20 seasons the original Five-0 did. I think SVU has finished as well.

Good lord... 20 seasons? My kid isn't even that old yet. LOL

I had no idea the original H50 went that long either.

Honestly, I don't get people wanting things to go on forever, so I'm with you. In this part of the world, some of us have these US vs UK discussions about TV, and a lot of it comes down to less is more, and that includes in HOW much there is as well as what's going on in the show. The average UK show has 10-13 episodes per season and will finish within 5-8 seasons if not earlier, and you walk away wanting more but never really being all that worried that there isn't. The average US show (apart from those failures after S1) seem to have 20-24 episodes per season and go 10-20 seasons. OMG, how much more can you wring out of what WAS a good idea, but is now just old and tired? The ones I've liked the most generally seem to be on the shorter side (Lost had 6 and the last was only 16 eps), and while I may trickle along with you for more years than I should (I'm looking at you H50), I'm no longer as invested.

Zayne needs a smack, I suspect. I will say no more as I can imagine there's at least ONE person who'd give it to him.

These are my exact thoughts. Yes, I love the show, but do I want to watch it run itself into the ground? No. You get to a point where you have to keep changing out the cast so you can have new story lines and fresh ideas.

H50 is another that should probably say Uncle in the next couple seasons, honestly. I watched through season 8, but haven't been motivated to hunt down season 9 yet. It's still good but was it as good as it was in the beginning? Probably not.

ROFL. And at least one of those would smack him WITH the tortilla press!

On the flip side, I just started a book this afternoon that has 49 books (so far) in the series. WHY? (Never mind, I know that answer - it's because it's JD Robb aka Nora Roberts.)

Yep, I'm with you there on H50 - we're watching S8 right now, but it just doesn't feel the same any more.

Wow, 49 books? That is some output! I had no idea JD Robb was so prolific. I must admit even some of my favourite authors are getting a bit old - I used to read all the Jonathan Kellerman 'Alex Delaware' series as soon as they were available in paperback, but I'm now several years behind, and they are up to somewhere in the 30-35 range now ( I own most of them but have sort of lost interest recently).

I agree. I missed the relationship Kono and her cousin had - I'm forgetting his name at the moment though.

Yeah, #49 came out last month, #50 comes out in early 2020. Like slow your roll woman!

I read the first Alex Delaware novel, but the sexual abuse of the disabled children was more than I could stomach. There's a scene where Alex is waiting to get into the facility (I don't remember a lot of details, it's been a few years) and sees the one boy he kind of bonded with being led off, knowing he's about to be abused but can't do anything about it without blowing his own cover... and it made me physically ill. Haven't picked up another since. Which makes me sad because it was a really good mystery, but the details were more than I could handle.

Oh well. :)

Last year, or maybe earlier this year, I started on the Bosch books by Michael Connelly and there's a ton of those, too. I need more stand alones. LOL

Kono's cousin is Chin. Five-0 lost it's appeal when they tried to shove Steve's mom down fan's throats. What a bitch. The final nail in the coffin is how they treated the actors that portrayed Kono and Chin. Lenkov is a bigger idiot than Bellsario.

I've listened to a good bit of the Alex Delaware series while I worked data entry. Made time fly by.

Harry can be time consuming, but well worth it imho. :)

I don't know why I can never remember his name, especially since he's one of my favorites. But thank you. Yeah, I agree, I wasn't sure why on earth they even brought her around but what do I know? LOL Yes, they way they treated Grace and Daniel was awful. But, unfortunately, that happens WAAAAY too often these days.

I really want to try them again, but that first book upset me too much. Trouble with being a mom sometimes, I guess. What I want to finish next are the Tempe Brennan books. I think I'm only 10 behind in that series. Hahaha.

Yes, he definitely is. I've read two so far and will get the next from the library after I finish a couple of my prints I've got stacked everywhere. :)

I totally get how the \first Alex Delaware book would have been upsetting - I wasn't a mother when I read it - but most of the others don't necessarily feature child abuse. I'm pretty sure you could read just about any of them as stand-alones, apart from the understanding of Alex's relationships with Milo and Robin. Actually, Jonathan Kellerman's written a bunch of others that don't feature Alex, and they would probably be less upsetting, except they're usually murder-mysteries too!

I'm sure I'll eventually get to them again. I liked the one I read despite it all.
