Because, yanno, we all need a good laugh, right?

I've been working on rebuilding my garden lately and have had mixed results. Some of my plants kicked the bucket. A couple of my plants got eaten by the Sunny Monster. Two are thriving.

So, I've been thinking about growing other things - less common things like potatoes or, hey, how about garlic?

Honestly, garlic wasn't even on my radar until I got an email from Burpee this morning. I was looking through their varieties and this, obviously, caught my attention for numerous reasons:

Apparently, the Romanians love their garlic (who doesn't?), and I often wonder how much this played into the whole vampire folklore thing, but that's another discussion for another time. Anyway, this intrigued me, so I went to read the reviews because I've never grown this kind of thing before and wanted to see what other people's results were like. And I found this gem of a review:

HAH! I love it. And I'm so tempted but I'm not sure if this is what I need to be doing right now. LOL Thoughts? Opinions? Am I nuts for even wanting to try and grow garlic? You would not believe how much I go through on a regular basis either.

I'm going to leave you with this little gem because it's highly representative of how I've been feeling lately.

Anyone know how to exit this chat 'cause I probably ought to do something productive today. :D

LOL!!! Amy, I love you, girl . . . Gotta share this garlic info with J -- he wants to get into gardening one day --, and we both FEEL your pain on the whole chatting voices thing. Let us know if you figure out how to shut them the heck up!

Just shared your post with J, and he wants to add that it's time to be scared if those chatting voices are making sense -- something we've both been known to experience as well.

I'm 37; J's 24. And HE'S the one who chased ME and has always insisted that age is only a number!

You're only as old as you feel you are, but then, of course, with that in mind, there are times every one of us feels thousands of freaking years old . . .

Now you are required to grow that garlic.

I texted Taylor and she said 'that'd be interesting' so I ordered it. Hahaha. And more grow bags so I can move it to the garage if I need to later in the year.

I need help, please send help. LOL

Grow bags!!! You and my niece would totally be on par together!

Hah! They are the best things, seriously. You can't overwater and when it gets cold/hot/stormy, you can move them! But I also have a teeny back yard, so space is an issue.

I say go for it.

As for the chat room, when you figure that out tell me.

Yay! Taylor thought it'd be interesting to try, so I ordered it.

I know, right? Like don't you ever sleep in there?

We carry Burpee seedlings in the Spring and garlic is a popular one. You can even smell it as it grows.

Mine rarely shut up long enuff to let me sleep. That's what I get for having an overactive imagination.

I've never seen garlic seedlings here before, so that's cool you do carry them. I'm excited to try the scrapes - the green shoots - because they're supposed to be really good in stir fry and whatnot.

I really have no life if this is what I'm excited about. :D

I'm telling you. And my kids wonder why I'm distracted all the time.

Why do I think you need to incorporate this into one of your Romani detective stories? Especially with Halloween on the horizon.

It's funny you say that because some random talk with sharpiesgal has led to an idea for a Halloween fic. I could easily work this into that. LOL Especially since I wasn't lying - every article I've read about Romanian food mentions how much they love their garlic. :D

Yum, garlic. Of course, I am a bit biased, as I am Italian. I don't think vampires would like snacking on me :D

I agree, although I'm not Italian (German and English over here)! It'll be fun using my vampire garlic crusher with my Transylvanian garlic. LOL! (Troy is rolling his eyes from the great beyond right now. LOL)

If you figure out how to get them to shut up... let me know. I've had my groups for two different stories having conversations. And it doesn't help that two of them are fighting because one is being an A-hole.

Yum garlic. *adds that to the list for the future garden* We're talking about building planting boxes, but my mom and I differ on how they'll be done. Oh well... maybe next year or the year after that.

I think I'd be lonely if I ever managed that. LOL - I'd say I'm sorry, but you know what I'm dealing with over here. LOL

Ah, I'd love some raised beds! But I don't really have the room, which sucks. So, I have pots and grow bags. I'm hoping the garlic ships soon so I can get it planted. But I'll let you know how it goes!

LOL so would I, I'm sure. I would much rather people with my characters than most actual people. LOL yes you do.

Well, he finally stopped being an a-hole and let me finish at least part of the story (I TBC'ed it for the anthology and will finish it later.)

Well my land is sloped so I'm not sure how I will do it, but I want waist high beds. Mom wants just boxes on the gound.

How grows the garlic?

No joke.

That's good to hear.

Ah, that would make it more difficult. Google it and I'm sure you'll find a lot of inspiration.

I don't have any idea. I won't even have a clue if it's growing until springtime. It takes something like 9 month to grow.

Wow that takes forever to grow!
