February Book Roundup

I had a decent month considering it’s a short month and my last book of the month was a chonker at 553 pages.
What I read:
Year One by Nora Roberts. I’ve never been a big fan of hers, but this book was excellent. And a bit scary to be reading during a freaking pandemic. Hahaha. There are two more in the series that I plan on picking up eventually.
Ridden Hard by Jon Keys. A friends-to-lovers story with a bit of rodeo thrown in for fun. It was really cute and enjoyable, even if one of the dads was named Travis and one of the kids was Zane. Made me chuckle.
The Wrong Family by Tarryn Fisher. This is only the second book I’ve read by this author, but holy guacamole was it a wild ride. Just when you think you know what’s going on, you realize you’re so, so wrong.
I’ll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman’s Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer by Michelle McNamara. I’d stupidly picked this up in audio, thus the reason why it took me a year to finish. Very informative and disturbing though. Note to self: no more true crime in audio, k?
The Wickeds by Gayle Forman. This was part of Amazon’s Faraway series, retellings of fairy tales. I both read and listened to this, swapping out once I got to work. Fun little take on the princesses and their wicked stepmoms.
A Curious Incident by Vicki Delany. Book #6 in the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery series. Er, I warned y’all a long time ago that I have a Sherlock obsession. This only just cements it. Hahaha. Each installment gets better as Gemma mellows out.
The Turn: The Hollows Begins with Death by Kim Harrison. This is the prequel to her popular Hollows series where you find out just how tomatoes nearly killed all the humans in the world. I loved this backstory that set up the Rachel Morgan books that I love so much. But I got really attached to the one human character that was part of it all – Dr. Daniel Plank – and really was not satisfied with the ending. I need to know that he went on and had a happy life and that Orchid found her buck. LOL!
What I’m Reading Now:
Out of the Storm by B. J. Daniels. Total Harlequin romance novel but in the best way. Second chance romance. Amnesia. All the tropes! Hahaha. I do like her books though, they always come with a good dose of suspense and steam.
Black Coral by Andrew Mayne. This is the second in a series and I loved the first book. This has been good as well.
What’s on Deck:
The Wicked Hour by Alice Blanchard
Stitches in Time by Barbara Michaels
Thief of Souls by Brian Kingborg. This is a Netgalley ARC and the only one on my shelf currently. WOOHOO! And you’d be so proud – I went looking at books this morning and didn’t request a single one!
That’s it for now. Who knows what March will bring because I have a pile o’books to get through.
