April Reading Recap

I actually had a really good month! Even if one was a kid’s book and two were short.
What I read:
Thief of Sous by Brian Klingborg – an ARC of the first book in a new series. Police procedural set in China.
Some Days by Maria Wernickle – cute children’s book I got free from Amazon for World Book Day
Bittersweet by A. Anders – prequel to the Bittersweet series and… I will not be reading more. The characters lack any sort of personality and the novella needed serious editing.
Break No Bones by Kathy Reichs – a Tempe Brennan novel. I love this series, even though Tempe can be a real idiot.
Unchosen by Katharyn Blair – YA dystopian pirate fantasy. Not joking either, but a pretty good book.
The Bounty by Janet Evanovich & Steve Hamilton – a Fox and O’Hare novel. Really enjoy this series.
The Night Shift by Sally Rigby – an audiobook novella set ten or so years before the actual series starts. Will def be picking up more in this series.
The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner – I’m not sure what I was expecting when I got this from the library but what a good book. 12/10 would recommend. LOL
Jingle All the Slay by Dakota Cassidy – first in a cozy mystery series by one of my favorite people.
A King of Infinite Space by Tyler Dilts – a Long Beach Homicide novel. Not too bad, would like to see if the characters flesh out more as the series goes on. I liked the lead detective a lot.
The Creative Tarot by Jessa Crispin – a book on using tarot in your day-to-day life.
The Last to See Her by Courtney Evan Tate – a psychological thriller that was pretty interesting.
What I’m currently reading:
Blood of Elves by Andrzej Sapkowski – first actual novel in The Witcher series (two prior books were collections of novellas/short stories).
Arsenic and Adobo by Mia Manansala – a cute cozy mystery that I’m almost done with.
The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager – audiobook psychological thriller.
Now, for the question that no one’s asking: how many books did I clear off my currently reading list?
Total: 8
Break No Bones (2008)
A King of Infinite Space (2018)
Jingle All the Slay (2020)
All the rest were from this year
So, it’s a little bit of progress, but I’m sure I can get two more oldies off the list by July.
