So, it's going to be a fun day...

It started yesterday when Tim told Rhett that he wanted to 'go out with a bang' and told us to pick something good to have for lunch today.

We eventually decided on pizza which, while not big and bold, is always a hit.

I get into the office this morning and find this in the kitchen:





Tim had mentioned last week that it had been a year since he'd brought Rhett into the office to learn how to estimate and basically take over Tim's job. Cool. But I've been here twenty-three years and have never, ever gotten a cake. Not even after I had a damn baby. LOL!

At 7:45 AM, Tim says, "Is it too early for cake?" I guess the answer was no because...



It's good, too. And not too sweet either, which is a surprise considering how much frosting is on this bad boy.

All I can say is that I'm glad I got on the damn bike this morning because today is going to kill all the hard work I put in this week. Hah!

Happy Thursday everyone. I'm flying high on sugar and caffeine so ignore anything that might come out of me for the rest of the day.

ETA: Not sure this ride covered half that piece of cake I just ate.

The cake looks awesome! I'm a frosting fan, myself- I like a little cake with the frosting.

Same! Everyone was scraping theirs off and I was eating mine first. And it honestly wasn't as sweet as it looked.

Hahaha - Rhett bought me a breakfast burrito yesterday so I'll give him a pass for now.

Yeah, I haven't had one since my boss's mom retired, cause she always used to remind him. C got stuff, as I was grateful to her. We should send each other flowers!

I haven't had one in all the years I've worked here. The one time Jeff remembered (before his accident), it was also Take Your Daughter to Work Day and his daughter wanted Olive Garden. So... they went to lunch and I ate what was in my lunchbox. LOL

That was nice of you to do that for C though. It's always nice to know you're appreciated. YES! We'll have to remember next year. :D

We did hire someone. She doesn't start until July.

It was a tough decision, there were 2 or 3. But the one we went with has been doing blue-collar bookkeeping for years. It's a different world than working in a strictly paper pushing office (as you know). Anyway, she's moving to Mass after the school year ends and starts the second week in July. She seems genuine in saying that she's not entertaining other offers, b/c the boss will kill me if we she takes something else and we have to start again. And that will be just over a year since C has physically been in the office. It's very weird.

And this week we keep getting food (it’s teacher appreciation week).

Eh, they do nice things for me all the time. After Troy died, they gave me a $7/hr raise. And Jeff even let me bring the girls to work with me when they were babies so I didn't have to deal with daycare. So, I mean, it balances out. But I can still give them crap about it, right?

That's great. I used to always make little treats for the girls' teachers when they were younger. I'm glad you're being appreciated as well.

Yup, gave something to my 3 co-teachers, my LEA (boss), and two of my team members.

Wrote them out and then lost them... so they got stuff but not cards.

The cake was great! And they do — it's never anything big, but they do. Jeff bought me concert tickets several years ago for my birthday, Rhett bought us all breakfast burritos this morning. LOL If I was unhappy, I wouldn't have stuck around for 23 years. :)
