Day 15: June 7, 2021
Jun. 7th, 2021 08:50 amWelcome to Monday!
Today's workout: Transform 20 Week 3 Burn
I've gained two pounds, but dropped 2" off my waist, one off my hips, and half off each of my thunder thigs during the first two weeks, so I'm not going to whine about that. Yet. Hah! Four more weeks to go with this program.
Today's question: What did you Google last?
1. Mike Rinder's age because he said he was 15 years older than Leah Remini.
2. Leah Remini's age. See above.
3. Zayne's blog. I really need to bookmark that.
4. How to factory reset a Lenovo laptop.
5. Melamine. It was listed as a material used in making some water bowls we were looking at yesterday and neither Taylor nor I had any idea what it was.
So, it's obvious that a) these blog posts are not developing me personally and b) neither is my web searching.
Okay, now I've got to get back to work and hopefully get some work done on this month's challenge.

Date: 2021-06-07 04:19 pm (UTC)Melamine is what our everyday dishes were made out of in the 70's. And they were all mustard stained. I miss them. But the dish brand was Melmac, the planet where ALF was from. Incase you needed that info!

Date: 2021-06-07 04:36 pm (UTC)Oh interesting! My mom's dishes were Ironware? I think that was the brand name, but they were thick and heavy. So much so that when I dropped one, it broke in half. Not like that god awful Correlle my stepfather convinced her was *better*. (That shit shatters like nobody's business.)
Sadly, that bit of trivia was already in my brain. Hah, I kill me. LOL
Side note: half of my cooking utensils are curry-stained for a similar reason — the turmeric in both mustard and curry powder is impossible to get out of ANYTHING.

Date: 2021-06-07 04:50 pm (UTC)This is clearly important info for you.

Date: 2021-06-07 04:59 pm (UTC)LOL — I'm easily amused and like learning about things, no matter how silly it might be.

Date: 2021-06-07 06:22 pm (UTC)If it makes you feel any better, I really only have 8 actual glasses (they match my dishes). Everything else in my cupboard? WAS BOUGHT AT STARBUCKS.

Date: 2021-06-07 06:34 pm (UTC)One of the doors in the base of my china cabinet is missing it's handle. So, to get into it, I have to use a butter knife to pry the door open. Needless to say, I don't get in there much. Last time I did, I found Batman Forever glasses. You know, the ones you got at McDonald's back in the day? Yeah, I'm a tiny bit embarrassed, but only because I had the complete set. LOL

Date: 2021-06-07 06:47 pm (UTC)The ST — I bought for myself, etched ST symbol on them. I FREAKING LOVE THEM. Had to buy sphere ice cube trays to do them justice.
Some tv show somewhere, a comedian was talking about breaking the collectible glass from a fast food place and the parent saying "This is why we can't have nice things" and it has made me love fastfood glasses all the more. When we were little, there was a Burger Chef locally, and we went every week to try and get the Warner Bros cartoon glasses. I remember being upset when tweety bird washed off, and that only Dad could use the Foghorn Leghorn glass. LOVE YOUR BATMAN GLASSES!

Date: 2021-06-07 06:58 pm (UTC)I think that might have been Jeff Foxworthy (or, it sounds like him anyway)! Oh no! Poor Tweety. I can relate though — my Bones Coffee Co sticker is pretty much toast because my Hydroflask has been washed too many times. :D

Date: 2021-06-07 07:22 pm (UTC)They do! And Death Wish Coffee has these amazing zodiac-inspired ones. I'm thinking of treating myself to one next month. :D

Date: 2021-06-07 09:18 pm (UTC)Have you been watching Lea Remini's series on Scientology? I binged that a few months ago and now all my streaming services recommend shows about cults... LOL

Date: 2021-06-07 09:30 pm (UTC)I watched it when it originally aired on A&E. Wound up getting my older kid hooked on it. HAHAHA! OMG, I've been listening to her podcast Scientology: Fair Game that she does with Mike Rinder, trying to catch up (I stopped listening sometime last year) and now all Spotify suggests are conspiracy theorist/cultist podcasts. So, I feel your pain. Gotta love those algorithms.
I've always loved Leah and her relationship with Mike is great. When they start their podcast, she says, "Hello, Mikey," and he responds with, "Hello Lee-Lee," and I laugh every time. Her book, Troublemaker, was a good read, too.
(Might as well get the library rec'ing this crazy stuff to you too, right?)

Date: 2021-06-07 11:28 pm (UTC)oh, I'd say you were developing — you learned a lot about melamine! ;-)
And congrats on the shape you're in — you are doing FANTASTICALLY!

Date: 2021-06-08 04:39 pm (UTC)True! But I'm always reading/researching something so... :)
Thank you! I could stand to lose about 50 lbs still, but I'll go with how I look and feel more than the number on the scale. <3

Date: 2021-06-08 11:13 pm (UTC)Yes, how you look and feel is always better! I wish I could say I was on a downward journey with you, but apparently not. My hubby complains because he's put on 5kg since he was a bit younger, but seems completely oblivious to the 25kg I've put on since menopause hit (around the 50lb mark you want to lose)... which now makes me about 6kg heavier than him (and he has about 6 inches on me in height!). I have started walking a couple of times a week again, but I really need to ramp up my own exercise program — I know I won't lose the whole 25kg, but if I could lose 10kg or so, I'd be happy, and wouldn't feel so damned porky! ;-) Talked to my son about starting swimming once a week again, and he seems keen, so that might be the thing!

Date: 2021-06-08 11:47 pm (UTC)Agreed! Lord, menopause will do that to a woman. Isn't it funny how the men always whine about a few lbs/kg here and there when the women are the ones carrying the babies and unable to get the weight off? LOL
You can do it! And I hope he does take up swimming with you, it's one of my favorite things to do.

Date: 2021-06-09 12:38 am (UTC)I know! Totally! I said I was going to dye my hair at the weekend but didn't get to it. He said I didn't have much grey showing anyway so no big deal. I had to point at the inch or so of grey regrowth so he SAW why I was needing to re-dye. Sometimes it's like he doesn't even look at me! MEN — what do they ever notice? LOL
Yes! And I know I'll have to make sure it works, but I need to, so it's all good.

Date: 2021-06-09 06:05 pm (UTC)They don't notice because society doesn't hold them to the same standards it does us, honestly. Grey is good on a man. On a woman? HAG! LOL Although, I refuse to dye mine — I earned these greys!
Whatever makes you happiest in the end, I say!
