My big mouth & other stuff

First, I've been thinking about a fic lately, so I went and dug out a book I've used as a reference many times before.
You know the research is getting serious when I'm dragging this out:

(I also have one called Secrets of Gypsy Love Magic just in case.)
Hah! I swear, this book is at LEAST 20 years old. Likely older. Original publication is 1995, but I'm not sure I've had it quite that long. But, well, look at it. It's old.
But for the big mouth portion of our post... I've done it to myself again.
We have two UPS guys. The usual guy is Filipino, short, and very sweet. He's also pretty smoking hot, but I've managed to keep that shit to myself for the most part. The other, less frequent guy, is hella tall, pretty built, and yeah. The second guy came yesterday and then again today. So, what do I do? I tell Ralph that the 'very tall UPS guy left a box'. I made this disclaimer because the other guy is the one who leaves the boxes downstairs and yells up, "ONE BOX AAAAAMMMMYYY!" LOL
Joel decides to run with this. "Oh, he's tall, huh? But is he better built than the other guy? Cause he's pretty short." "The other guy might be short, but he's pretty ripped, too." WAIT. WHY DID I SAY THAT. This of course led to me being harassed about the UPS guys for a good ten minutes.
About half an hour later, Ralph comes out to get the box and says, "Why didn't you tell me this box was here?" I reminded him that I did (apparently, he was joking), and that set Joel off again. I said I was going to burn it all down if they didn't stop.
Joel: But that won't bring the tall, built UPS guy back.
Me: No, but maybe it might bring us some hunky firemen.
Joel: Amyyyyyyy...
Me: ....what?
Ralph: *surprised Pikachu*
Jakub (our 19 year old intern): *trying to pretend like he's not part of this conversation or this company*
Yeah. So, one day, I'll learn to maybe keep my mouth shut. Until then, I'm just going to have to make sure to run interference between Joel and both of our UPS guys.
So, how's your day going? At least I've gotten a bit of eye candy. HAH!

Date: 2021-07-29 06:43 pm (UTC)Too funny. Eye candy is always good. My boss gives me trouble every time one particular supply rep comes in. Thank goodness he was out of the room earlier today or I'd never have heard the end of it.

Date: 2021-07-29 06:45 pm (UTC)LOL @ your boss though. Hopefully it's good trouble and not him being a jerk about it. :)

Date: 2021-07-29 06:43 pm (UTC)How do you manage to get the cute drivers?

Date: 2021-07-29 06:49 pm (UTC)I got lucky, I guess? Our FedEx driver is nothing to write home about, but he's nice at least. And the guy who delivers our paychecks is cute, but in a goofy kind of way. Oh, and British. You can have my tall, hunky UPS driver though. I'm rather attached to the other.

Date: 2021-07-31 12:27 am (UTC)I went and got my yearly boob squish, then got recommended for genetic testing so spit in a tube. Went and got my back cracked, drove my mom (and me) to the bank and got gas (it's cheaper in the bad end of town). Went to the dermatologist who does not know what my rash is either, but hey we'll give you another ointment for it.
Then had lunch out. Then did ALL the shopping--pet stuff and grocery and everything.
Also did a bunch of orders and pretty much finished Christmas shopping (I need to get gift cards and cothes for my nieces and nephews).
Now I'm sitting down to write... if I can focus.

Date: 2021-07-31 07:33 pm (UTC)Hopefully all goes well with the results from the tests. Bummer that the derm had no idea either.
Sounds like you had a busy day though, hoping you were able to get some words in, too.

Date: 2021-07-31 08:24 pm (UTC)I hope so. I'm hoping to fail. (It was testing to see if I carry the gene for cancer.) Yeah. It was a waste of my time and the 45 dollar fee.
I did have a busy day but yes I managed to get a few words. I need 3K by Friday or this story is being put aside. I've got other things to write and I don't want to take too much time over it.

Date: 2021-07-31 09:15 pm (UTC)Crossing my fingers.
Good luck either getting your needed words or moving on, whichever works best for you in the moment.

Date: 2021-09-20 09:49 pm (UTC)Insurance refused to pay for it and I didn't have 2K to do it. They'll pay for it if it's my mother or sister, but not my aunt. *rolls eyes*
I ended up moving on. And then dropping something else cuz the month before it's due, they decided to tell us the theme... and I don't have time to start over.

Date: 2021-09-21 07:48 pm (UTC)Ugh, that sucks.
Well, you have to work with what you can get done and not stress the rest, so I think those were good choices in the end.

Date: 2021-10-30 03:18 am (UTC)Yeah. And is stupid.
Yup. And then the publisher for the one closed due to personal issues... so there's that.

Date: 2021-11-01 08:22 pm (UTC)Oh no, that's a bummer about the publisher though.

Date: 2021-11-11 03:30 am (UTC)Well, I wasn't getting paid (money went to charity), but it was great exposure. I started a Pateron so there's that, but I only have one person on it so far. I'm thinking about doing a story specifically for that.

Date: 2021-11-12 07:16 pm (UTC)Good luck! Sometimes, those Patreion accounts can do some good.

Date: 2021-07-31 03:15 am (UTC)I miss office interactions- co-workers I would laugh and spar with, others I'd go to share with whenever actual WTF moments happened. Not sure that I'll have that anytime soon, it's looking like not so much. But then again... zoom meetings in a nice top and PJ bottoms? Yep. That's okay, too.

Date: 2021-07-31 06:54 pm (UTC)Yeah, there is both good and bad about working from home. I'd go stir crazy being alone all day, but it'd be amazing to not have to answer the phone every five minutes, too. LOL

Date: 2021-08-01 01:12 am (UTC)The hardest part of working from home is lack of diversity in scenery. I'm learning to get out for a bit once I'm 'done' for the day, or at least take a break and a drive or a long walk. Unfortunately, I can be on zoom meetings half the dang day sometimes and the slack messaging tool is constantly pinging, so... .no break from communicating at all. If anything, I have people at me more than pre-covid! Ah, well. I still have my job so I'll deal with it.

Date: 2021-08-01 06:03 pm (UTC)Ugh, yes, that would have to be tough. Getting out, even for a few minutes here and there has to help. I think that's been a huge problem for everyone since COVID, the not being able to stop working even after work hours are over.
