It's in the cards... supposedly

So, this morning gave me a good laugh.

I was playing with my cards, trying to get a general read on the day/week ahead. So, I ask my question and start shuffling. That’s when a card flips out of the deck and lands face up on my desk. Now, if you don’t usually dabble in this sort of thing, it’s said that when a card does this, you’re supposed to pay special attention to it because it’s trying to tell you something.

That card? It was the Ace of Cups. But what was so damn important that it had to interrupt my draw?

First, the basics.

Cups represent your emotions, feelings, relationships, love, and intuition. When this suit comes up, trust your intuition. Time of year: fall. Zodiac: Cancer, Pisces, Scorpio.

It is almost fall and I am a Cancer, y’all.

Aces signify beginnings.

Well, okay, it IS Monday, I suppose.

Now, for the card itself. I’m going to copy and paste this out of one of my books* just for ease. And besides, there’s no summarizing this. Seriously.

This is a card about blessings that come from out of the blue. You can look forward to an overwhelming experience. Your heart is about to be moved. Your eyes are about to well up with tears of joy. This is a perfect moment. This is a happy time. Someone cares about you. Somebody does something nice for you. You can’t believe your luck.
Um… okay, sure. A lot of people care about me (or I hope anyway). And people do nice things for me regularly. But the rest? Well, the rest made me check out the section in regards to love questions. (Yeah, yeah, did you read the part above where I mentioned I’m a Cancer? I HAVE TO LOOK, OKAY?).

Overwhelming love! There is a special someone in your life, or someone special is coming into your life. Your heart leaps. Your eyes drink in the sight. Warmth spreads through your veins. The sound of a voice is music to your ears. And at a touch, your knees go weak. I see a Hollywood kiss coming on. The music swells in the background. The waves crash.

Okay, asshole, so where are you hiding? Because the clock is ticking, show thyself! *checks watch* I’m waiting! BTW, the earth better effing move, bucko. These cards are really making you sound like all that and I will not settle. Why? Because Cody says settling gets you an ugly boyfriend.

I’m kidding, I’m kidding. I don’t take this stuff THAT seriously. Although, it is fun to ponder on occasionally, right? Like, maybe my cowboy is headed my way and I just don’t know it yet. Or, possibly, I’ve got some crazy ass new character ready to break through and say HEY Y’ALL WATCH THIS. Although, Zayne does enough of that already. *side eyes my current cowboy*

But the dramatics of it all had me cackling. Here I am, 47 years old, widowed, with two children, one of which is a legal, functioning adult. Who in their right mind is going to rush in and sweep ME off my feet? Hollywood kiss, my rear. I love a good rom com, but I highly doubt that any of that is about to happen in this neck of the woods. And if it does? I’ll know I’ve been sucked through a wormhole and landed in an alternate dimension. Honey, please.

That said, I think this might be a fun bit to add into an AU that I’m working on. I think Andrej needs to have his young life shaken up properly. Hahaha.

And yanno, I’m thinking this sounded more amusing in my head. Hahaha. Either that or I’m really easily amused at the butt crack of dawn.

Now I'm not saying that you don't deserve every wonderful thing, and that is a stunning card to have pop out of the deck and scream look at me. AND I do hope that it is a man! I DO!

Bu my mental picture (and I am mental) in reading your book's description was "She's getting a puppy!"

Just please... don't tell my kids that theory, mmkay? They are both on the warpath for a dog. Which wouldn't be so bad, but they want a BIG dog. A Dalmatian, or a husky, or, if Maddie has her way, a Great Pyrenees.

Although, a dog would be so much easier than a damn man. LOL

I won't mention it to the girls, and there's a possibility it could be a friendly bearded dragon. But a dog can't afford to take you on a vacation or even to dinner.

Hahaha — this has me thinking how every Christmas, my mom will make stockings for my cats from her dogs. "Bella and Lexie have a small budget this year." LOL

Well, if it is indeed him, he's in for it this week. Plus, I'm not sure I'd know what to do with him once I had him.

I totally agree, and I'd give anything for an adult conversation with someone who isn't a relative or a co-worker right now. And he always makes me laugh, so that's a huge bonus right there.
