What a week

I'm going to try and keep this as upbeat as I can, despite the crap week I've been having.
So, it started Saturday. My washer has been acting up and I managed to find someone who could come on a Saturday, no extra charge, and his first available appointment was only a couple hours after I made it. Score. Good news: he knew what was wrong. Bad news: didn't have the part. The washer is 8 years old, I was expecting that. He said he'd be back Tuesday.
Since the girls said that their toilet was 'screaming' and running, I went to the hardware store to get a new fill valve. After watching a video, I figured I could do this. And I did - the toilet no longer ran.
Monday, Taylor comes downstairs laughing and says, "Did you try to fix the toilet?" I said I did, did you not notice it wasn't screaming any longer? Well, FML, but it's now LEAKING. I figured I hadn't gotten something tight enough and of course, it couldn't be something that simple. It's leaning from the GD angle stop (the valve in the wall behind your toilet that turns the water on and off). OF COURSE.
I'd let Rhett know I'd be late on Tuesday and the guy showed up promptly at 8. He replaces the water leveling board and then tells me there's another problem. The drain valve has gone bad as well. Bright side? Only $30. Bad news? He has to order it, too. So, he ought to be texting me today sometime to let me know he has the part and when he'll be back tomorrow.
I get to work and Rhett sees immediately that all is not well. Bless his big ass heart, he said, "Don't worry about it, we'll get someone out tomorrow to fix it for you." Didn't even let me ask, which is probably a good thing since I wouldn't have.
So, Edgar (one of my favorite foremen) is out at the house right now, hopefully fixing the issue. Crossing my fingers that it's quick and easy and he can get back to his real work and stop traumatizing my cats. Hahaha. Sunny and Nayla both shoved themselves under the same chair yesterday due to the repair guy being in the house.
Now, for the best news. Monday night, my MIL calls Taylor and asks if she's doing anything Tuesday night. She said no and that's when my MIL tells her that her BFF, Jamie, has two spare tickets for the Golden Knights game on Tuesday. Taylor jumped on that in a hot second, let me tell you. So, we got to see the Knights whoop up on the Avalanche, beating them 4-3, barely. Great game though, we had a lot of fun. Taylor managed to weasel a new t-shirt out of me and a drinky-drink at the game. She said, "But mom! This is our first official mother-daughter drinking night out!" Lord have mercy, this child! When I told my co-worker this this morning, he said, "She has her learner's permit and needs practice." LOL Thanks, John.
Also, John left me (and Maddie) some pumpkin walnut fudge leftover from his last trip to Utah.
Here's to hoping your week is going better than mine, although mine looks like it's hopefully getting better.
Oh, I forgot to add that I finished the Romanian course this past weekend. Now, Iām wondering what language I should work on next. Suggestions?
UPDATE: Taylor just texted to let me know the toilet is fixed. HUZZAH.

Date: 2021-09-29 10:21 pm (UTC)It's starting to look up, thank you! If I can actually get my washer fixed tomorrow, I'll be golden.
I already speak a lot of German, even if I'm pretty rusty. I speak some very basic Spanish, which might be useful. I've always wanted to learn Irish and have been toying with the idea of Portuguese, but I'm open to anything. And I mean... Duolingo even offers Klingon. Pretty much looking to see if someone comes up with something more interesting that what I've already thought about. :D

Date: 2021-09-29 10:36 pm (UTC)Italian would be nice! And it's also a romance language, so it'll have the same Latin base as Romanian, French, etc. Grazie!
(And as an aside, I used Google translate to make sure I got that right. And thank you in Irish? Go raibh maith agat. Hah!)

Date: 2021-09-30 05:26 pm (UTC)One of the languages I don't think I could even fathom trying would be Welsh. I look at some of the signs etc while watching Torchwood and I run screaming! Although it sounds really interesting when spoken (granted my experience is limited to watching shows like the British Bake Off that occasionally have a Welsh contestant).

Date: 2021-09-30 05:37 pm (UTC)Welsh and Irish are both a little crazy looking! Hahaha ā so funny you mention GBBO ā my daughter and I started series 8 last night. It's great when they get a Welsh or Irish contestant because I love their accents!
