I kept hoping I’d finish one more before the end of the year, but that didn’t happen. Oops. But! I did read 119 books last year. So, that’s like something, right?
December was a bit of a slow month for me. All the construction going on in the house made it tough to read, even when no one was here working. The clutter, the crap piled everywhere, Taylor’s incessant whining about how messy the house was… it took a toll on me.
What I Read:
The Demon in the Wood – Leigh Bardugo. A prequel to the Shadow and Bone series. Short bit of insight into the Darkling’s past.
Enchantments: A Modern Witch’s Guide to Self-Possession – Mya Spalter. Meh. Not the best written book of this kind I’ve read.
Blue Flag Volumes 2 & 3 – Kaito. I love this series and can’t wait to get more volumes.
The Witching Tree – Alice Blanchard. I love this series! I found the first in the series on sale and bought it last month, can’t wait to get into it.
Roll Against Discovery – Allyson Lindt. Not the best in this series, but then, they’re all kinda PWP menages so I’m not sure what I was expecting. LOL
56 Days – Catherine Ryan Howard. A different approach to a murder mystery and I liked it.
Books in Progress:
At the Crossroads – B. J. Daniels
Stone Cross – Marc Cameron
January’s TBR (tentative):
Winterwood – Dorothy Eden (group read Gothic Romantic Suspense group)
The Ex-Husband – Karen Hamilton (ARC that publishes 1/18)
Such a Pretty Smile – Kristi DeMeester (ARC that publishes 1/18)
One of the following for The Story Inside LJ comm
A Tale of Two Murders – Heather Redmond
The Whisper Man – Alex North
Smoke Eaters – Sean Grigsby
2022 Goals
Read 125 books
Read at least one print book from my stash each month
Read at least one Agatha Christie book.
To not buy books just because they look good. Hahaha.
I think that’s it for the moment. Hope you all had an enjoyable, safe New Years.

Date: 2022-01-02 03:51 am (UTC)December was slow for me as well. There just seems to be so much to do over Christmas. With all your construction it'd be even worse, so totally understandable.
You're on my friends list on Goodreads, aren't you? Because I belong to this group there called... um... The Challenge Factory. They have a monthly challenge that I do -- I mentioned them on my LJ too -- that I think would be great for you because you have so many books! It's called Dusty Bookshelf. Basically every month you list the books in your TBR pile and you let *someone else* pick 3 of them you should read. So you kinda have a goal to meet and hopefully it makes you stick to it and actually make that TBR pile get smaller. Just an FYI if you wanna check it out.

Date: 2022-01-02 03:13 pm (UTC)Right? Even with the girls being adults now, it's still a lot of work. Yeah, the construction threw everything off. I'm hoping everything will be done by the end of January, if I'm lucky.
I am — I just checked. Oh, I saw that in your post and it sounds interesting! I'll have to look into that. It's kind of like the community I mentioned — The Story Inside — you get partnered up with someone and are given a theme for the month. But I can always use more nudging to get some of these physical books out of my house. LOL Thank you!
