So, I tried my darndest to stay away from Pinterest when it first emerged simply because I do not need another time suck.  I mean, I have my books, my anime, my fanfiction, my television shows... did I really need one more thing to occupy my time?  Er, apparently so.

I tend to use Pinterest mainly as an online cookbook, but there are other things too.  A board for things to add to my writers Pin board.  A board for cute and cuddly animals.  And then one for this thing called Supernatural.

One of the things I like best about Pinterest is seeing the things that other people like of mine and repin.  I find it curious that certain things get repinned and repinned while others never get noticed.  My husband was making note of this the other night when he said, "Those damn chicken wings got repinned again."  The wings in question are called Tequila Lime Baked Chicken Wings and were honestly really damn tasty.  My only complaint?  I barely had the 1/3 cup of tequila needed for the recipe, so there was no accompanying margarita.  Darn it!  The odd thing is... this is just a very basic recipe, but it's his most re-pinned item.

This made me start to think about the odd things of mine that get pinned and repinned on a regular basis.

As far as recipes go, it's a crapshoot.  Some things are repinned a lot right after I pin them while others go in cycles.  There are two things that are constantly being repinned, however, and I find it amusing.

The first is this Appa hat that I found on Etsy.  What can I say, I have a soft spot for flying buffalo.  (I even have a giant stuffed version)

The second is this Supernatural Destiel comic.  I cackle every time I see that this gets repinned.  Mostly because it makes my little shipper heart happy.

If you're interested, you can find me here.

As for other stuff...

I finished a book yesterday that has me stymied on how to review it.  The story was good, the premise interesting but... the dialogue sucked.  At one point, one character says to another (and I kid you not), "You look very handsome in your blue blazer and gold turtleneck."  First of all, when was this book set?  1974?  Secondly, who even talks like that in real life?  I'd be more likely to say, "You look nice tonight.  I like that blazer with your turtleneck."  Right?  And that was but one example.

On the bright side, I started reading a new book this morning that has been very good so far.  It's called Blond Cargo by John Lansing.  Now, there's a problem here, too, I've found out.  About a year or so ago, when I first started writing my *cough* crossdressing series, a reader pointed out that blondE = female, while blond = male.  I had no idea and have always used blonde for everything.  After a Google search, I confirmed that they were correct.  (Side note: oddly enough brunette = female, brunet = male, however brunette is currently the accepted spelling for both male and female.  You can blame the French.)

So, as far as this book goes, the title is incorrect.  It should be Blonde Cargo since it's about a missing female.  Now, I'm not an editor or an English teacher, but I found that interesting.  However, since the book is published by Simon & Schuster, I'm going to go with the idea that blond might be acceptable for both males and females.  Too large of a publisher to split hairs with. Heh.  But, like I said, I'm about 15% in and am really liking it so far.  Bonus?  It's only $1.99 on Kindle right now.

I have also gotten myself into a bit of a pickle with review books.  The lady handing out offers says, "You want this?"  I say, "YES!  I love mysteries!  GIMME MYSTERIES!"  And now I have five.  Because I am the original book whore deluxe.  Just sayin'.  The awesome thing though, is that two of them are ARCs and I get this deviant pleasure out of reading things before anyone else can.  Mwahahahaha!

And for your WTF moment of the week... I woke up the other morning after having a dream that Taylor Kinney (Kelly Severide on Chicago Fire), dressed in a silver, sparkly suit, was reenacting John Travolta's famous Saturday Night Fever dance.  Yeah.  What on earth is wrong with my brain?  Better question: why wasn't he naked?

*scratches head*  Yeah, I think that might be enough babble for one afternoon.  I will not get into last week's episode of Supernatural that I watched last night.  I will suffice it to say that I'm thankful to see Castiel is not going to keel over and die on us yet.

I love the idea of using pinterest as a writing tool. Of using visuals to form your characters and locations, and I may just steal that!

I have, in my own creepy way, followed you on Pinterest, and you should recognize me right away. ;)

Also, I don't see anything wrong with that dream, okay, maybe naked would be better, but that man would look good shiny and dancing!

I got the idea from another writer who uses Pinterest for story boards. It really can be helpful. And if not, then it's a great way to brainstorm and kill time. LOL

I read that and immediately grabbed my phone to check for notifications. I laughed because you're right - it was obvious!

RIGHT? Only problem is, if he were naked, he wouldn't be dancing for long. Wait, so why is that a problem? Hah.

When I used to RP, I had a lot of images that I saved to get into character, so it completely makes sense!

And yes, I'm generally obvious, rarely ever surreptitious.

I've got no problem with either!

It does! I'm a very visual person anyway, so it helps me tremendously.

I'm pretty obvious, too. I'm too clumsy (both physically and verbally) to ever be sneaky. :)

Heh. Can't say that I do, either.

OMG, I so don't need another time-suck, although pinterest sounds fun. I haven't succumbed though; I'd never do anything other than sit at my keyboard (like I haven't been doing the last two hours *whistles*). I LOVE the Appa hat and the SPN cartoon is amusing, so no wonder they get repinned. The recipe sounds delish too, but I WON'T go there. NO tequila in the house at all (we rarely have any alcohol in the house aside from the one bottle of vodka that lasts about 2 years and the odd beer or wine).

Hmmm, sparkly Taylor Kinney - HELL YEAH. I love your mind. So much better than mine. Last night I dreamed about being in some hoarder's paradise of a home. No idea what that's about.

I feel for your book review issues. I'm hopeless at them at the best of times though, so of no help to you at all. Good luck!

I hear you on that! Which is why I've limited myself to ONLY getting on on Saturday mornings when I'm planning my meals for the week. LOL I adore Appa and would love anything Appa related so that hat really caught my attention.

Can't blame you for not bringing that kind of thing into the house. In this case, I would think you could easily substitute orange juice or any liquid really. It wouldn't be the same recipe, but orange and lime on chicken wings is amazing. I have a crapload of alcohol in my house and oddly enough, it rarely gets opened. LOL

OMG! That would not have been a pleasant dream! I do have to say that I dreamt the other night that I was smuggling bullets - silver bullets at that - onto a plane in the front pocket of my jeans. So, my dreams aren't all glitter and pretty boys. Apparently, I hunt werewolves in my dreamscapes. :)

I still haven't written it and I really ought to do that soon. I tend to be okay once I dive in, but sometimes its hard to get started. Thanks though!
