I really am impressed with how much audiobooks (and Kaige pushing me to finish the Bosch series) has upped my reading game.  Thirteen books in March, twelve in April.  Most of which have been audiobooks.

What I read:

You’re Invited by Amanda Jayatissa.  An interesting book told in alternating timelines.  One in the sixties (I think) and the other in modern day.  It was fun watching the two timelines come together in the end.  Although, the very end of the book annoyed me somewhat.

Nine Dragons by Michael Connelly.  Bosch #14.  Harry goes to Singapore on a case.  It was nice to see him somewhere other than in LA or in Vegas.  Although the book made me sad.

The Reversal by Michael Connelly.  Mickey Haller #3.  Mickey teams up with Harry in this cold case.  I loved having the two of them work together, brought both sides into one story.

Ashes to Ashes, Crust to Crust by Mindy Quigley.  Deep Dish Mysteries #2.  I enjoyed the first in this series and the second was even better.  Mainly because the main character is getting a grip on her need to constantly be in control.  Also a better mystery this time.

Next Level By Stacy T. Sims.  This was a fitness book about building muscle during menopause.  Helpful with some good information.

The Fifth Witness by Michael Connelly.  Mickey Haller #4.  This was a bit of a crazy story, but I loved it.  I’m finding that I prefer Mickey to Harry, although I do still love Harry.  Go figure.

Not in the Cards by Amy Cissell.  Psychics of Oracle Bay #1.  A cute little cozy mystery.  The writing wasn’t the best, but it wasn’t totally awful either.  Am thinking of getting the next in the series to see if the author improves any.

Liquid Shades of Blue by James Polkinghorn.  I wanted to like this book so much.  The premise was good, the actual bad guy made sense but ugh.  The writing.  How do some of these books get published?  Makes me think I could pursue publication and actually make money off it.  Hahaha.

Blue on Black by Michael Connelly.  Harry Bosch short story.  Not much to say about this.  I think it was like 18 pages long. LOL

The Drop by Michael Connelly.  Harry Bosch #15.  This cold case fascinated me in the way that it all came together in the end.

Killing Me by Michelle Gagnon.  An eARC I grabbed off Netgalley.  For such a dark and disturbing book, it had a lot of humor.  The main character’s POV was a lot of fun, even when she’s fighting for her life.

The Black Box by Michael Connelly.  Harry Bosch #16.  Ugh.  Another IA investigation for Harry.  I sometimes wonder how he still has a job, although I knew this one was bogus from the start.  Michael Connelly goes back to the 1992 riots quite often, but it was nice to see some justice for one of the crimes committed back then.

What I’m reading now:

The Gods of Guilt by Michael Connelly (audio).  This is the fifth Lincoln Lawyer novel.  Only about 40 minutes in so no real opinion yet.

Retribution by Robert McCaw (print).  This was offered to me by the publisher when I requested Liquid Shades of Blue. It’s #5 in the Koa Kane Hawaiian Mystery series.  Thank god it’s been a million times better than the other.  Will have to go back and read the first four.

Hard Dough Homicide by Oliva Matthews (eARC).  This is the second in the Spice Isle Bakery series.  Not very far into it yet.

What’s up next:

I have a couple ARCs due in June so those will be next on the list once I finish the ones I’m reading.

The Quiet Tenant by Clemence Michallon

The Nine Lives of Bianca Moon

And then, of course, more Bosch.  My next Bosch book is actually the first that Titus Welliver narrates.

You have read a bunch! Looks like you are making good progress on the Bosch series.

I love audiobooks they really have helped me be able to read more books while driving around and doing chores.

Congrats on all the reading!

Thank you! And I am. I'm almost sad at the progress because I'll be at the end soon. Hahaha. I'll just have to pick another series once I'm done with Harry I guess. :D

Agreed! I have a waterproof speaker in my shower, so I listen while I'm getting ready in the morning.

Thanks again. I look at all the books and sometimes think I ought to find another hobby. Hah!

It's so awesome when you find something that works for you. May you continue to enjoy the audiobooks.

How do some of these books get published? Makes me think I could pursue publication and actually make money off it. Hahaha.

No laughing about it, I've thought the same thing!

I agree! I still read ebooks a lot, but the audio make my commute nicer. :D

Most of the time I can see that it might just be an author trying to find their feet, so to speak. But sometimes... it's just so bad you can't see anyone outside of a vanity press publishing them.

I have fourteen left, but three are novellas (I think they're each like 2 1/2 hours long).

Currently, I am five books ahead of schedule. Hope to finish Retribution in the next couple of days.

THANK YOU! I have not accomplished much else, but I have been reading. 🤣

I know, right? I honestly didn't think I'd get through them, but when I'm managing an audiobook every 6-8 days? No sweat.

I HAVE TO BE MAKING PROGRESS ON SOMETHING! LOL
