Finally Friday!
Aug. 25th, 2023 08:27 amI wrote an update last Friday and didn’t get a chance to post it. So, I’ll do a double update today.
First, the kittens had their first vet visit yesterday. Since I didn’t adopt them from a rescue, I wanted to make sure they were overall healthy and get their vaccinations started. Vet said they were really healthy and extra cute. LOL Fawkes was 3.57 lbs and Gideon was 3.43 lbs. They’re scheduled for a booster and their rabies vaccination on September 25th. I need to ask about getting them neutered and eventually microchipped, too.
Haven’t been watching much TV lately. Taylor and I did finish How I Met Your Mother and now I’m sad. It’s a really funny show, despite them all being awful people. LOL I did also finish season 3 of The Witcher. With season 4 on hold and the loss of Henry as Geralt, I’m not sure I’ll watch after this. But who knows. I hate leaving things unfinished!
Since Only Murders in the Building has started again, Taylor and I are watching that as it comes out. We also started The Night Agent last night on Netflix and it looks like it’s going to be pretty good.
Books, on the other hand, I’ve read several. So, at least I’m doing something, right?
What I read:
Gone Tonight by Sarah Pekkanen
Sea Castle by Andrew Mayne
We Three by Steve Milton
A Stranger at the Door by Jason Pinter
Stay Close by Harlan Coben
‘Til Death by Jason Anspach
Sign Here by Claudia Lux
Brew or Die by Caroline Fardig.
I have two that I’m reading right now – ‘Til Death: Second Impressions by Jason Anspach and The Raging Storm by Ann Cleeves. Should finish them both before the end of the month, too.
I’ll end this with some pictures.
This was taken this past Monday after the dregs of Hurricane Hilary passed by:

Fawkes has made himself at home. Right on top of alllll of our blankets.

Not sure what it is, but all of our cats have slept exactly like this on the cat tree. Weirdos. Gideon is no exception it seems.

Violet being her cute self:

And lastly, Sunny in her box.

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Date: 2023-08-26 02:51 am (UTC)I really need to watch OMITB season two — I'm part way through it. I do love that show. I wondered about The Witcher; I can see how it'd be hard to make that transition as a fan. Can't think of a show I've watched that had such a major change.
Sweet kitties! The new boys are adorable, and look like they are settling in quite nicely.
I did get a Brooklyn library card! So far, I have only borrowed one thing- a graphic novel adaptation of The Martian Chronicles. But we've been very focused on renovating a little cabin in our yard, with the help of one of my sister's friends. He's up visiting, and works for a contracting company doing all kinds of home construction and renovation so it's been all hands on deck assisting him on it. Once this week is over, I'm going to borrow a couple of books.
And, nice view of the full rainbow! That's a beautiful one.

Thank you! They are adjusting well, thanks. Violet and Sunny are finally starting to engage them and play a bit, too.
Woohoo! Man, I more than paid for the out of state fee that first year just with manga. Oh man, have fun with the reno! I hope it all goes as smoothly as it possibly can. But happy that you have access to a broader array of books now, too.
I was surprised by it. Was leaving for work and had to stop. :)

Date: 2023-08-27 08:21 pm (UTC)The cats are all gorgeous! Love the rainbow pic! You have been busy with the books! It would be really weird to have a major character change actors, although I remember they kind of did that with the Robin Hood series from the 80s when they replaced Michael Praed with Jason Connery... that was strange because they were so different-looking, but I think they explained it by them actually being two different people who just happened to do the same thing, a bit like the Dread Pirate Roberts. Not sure the Witcher would work like that!

Yeah, the girls are spending more and more time away from home, so I read more. It works for me.
Ah, I like that explanation for Robin Hood, and it makes sense, too. I think that if they had chosen someone other than Liam Hemsworth, I might be more curious, but I'm not sure he'll fit the role. I could be wrong though.

Date: 2023-08-28 04:52 am (UTC)We just started OMITB season two so we are behind but will hopefully catch up.
I'm unsure about the Witcher as well after learning Henry will not be continuing, but I am holding judgement until I see how it goes with his replacement.

I hope you do, it's such a fun show! And it warms my heart hearing my 23-year-old laughing at Steve Martin and Martin Short. She was in for Selena, but loves them all now.
That's where I'm at, too. I'll probably watch just to see, but I'm not sure Liam Hemsworth can pull it off. I will give him a chance though.
