Happy September!

Man, how is it September already? YIKES.
Your interesting fact for the week: In the 1980s Nintendo hoped to produce a video game based on Popeye the Sailor Man. When the deal with Popeye’s copyright holders fell through, video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto changed the loutish bully Bluto into the large ape Donkey Kong and changed Popeye into Jumpman (later renamed Mario).
Had a slow reading week, only finishing two books:
The Raging Storm by Ann Cleeves. This is the third in her Two Rivers series and releases on 9/5. Best in the series so far, I think.
'Til Death: Second Impressions by Jason Anspach. This is the second in his Rockwell Return Files series. Super cute and fun 1950's era PI novels.
Currently reading two as well:
The Dark Corners of the Night by Meg Gardiner. The third book in her UNSUB series. Great stories with intense plots. Highly recommend. Book four releases in October, I think.
'Til Death: The Man Who Balked by Jason Anspach. This is the last in his Rockwell Return Files series, which is sad. I ought to finish it tonight however.
TV watching has been slow as well. Taylor's gotten on another New Girl kick, so that's what we've been watching during dinner (when we don't have new episodes of Only Murders in the Building or Worst Cooks in America). I do not know how many times she and Maddie have watched this show from beginning to end, but it is a LOT. It's their comfort show. :D On my own, I finally got around to watching A Bit of Fry and Laurie and my god, I'm shocked I haven't woken either of the girls up with my laughter in the mornings. I only have a couple of episodes left in the final season and then I'm going to start on the new season of The Lincoln Lawyer.
Not much else is happening here. Taylor's had two interviews for two different hospitals, both places she wants to work. So, keep your fingers crossed for her. Maddie's back to school and already hating it. Hahaha. She'll come around though once she gets back into her routine.
All four cats are doing well. The boys are tiny, ginger tornadoes and the girls sit back and watch them blow by. Although, both Sunny and Violet are starting to play with the kittens a bit here and there, which is wonderful.
Looking at a weekend full of rain, which is fine with me. Hoping you have pleasant weather wherever you are. Happy Labor Day if you're in the US. If not, happy first weekend of September!
I leave you with this fabulous gem from an episode I watched the other day:

Date: 2023-09-03 03:50 am (UTC)I need to get back to Cleeves's Vera series. She is a good writer. Ill have to check out her Two River series next.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for Taylor for sure. Poor Maddie the first few weeks of school are always rough.
Happy Labor Day!

Date: 2023-09-05 09:10 pm (UTC)I agree. I was getting worried about Sunny there for a bit.
I have The Crow Trap at home, but it's so dang big, I've been afraid to start it. Although, I do love the BBC series! I hope you like it if you do look it up. They're the only Ann Cleeves I've read so far, but I want to get into her others soon.
Thank you! Haven't heard on either yet, but I'm still hoping. I know, that kid does not do well with schedule changes.
Happy Tuesday! Hope your long weekend was a good one.
