I need to go home

I've felt like hot garbage all week. Partly because we've hit the 90's and everything is in bloom, thus pollen. But it's also been windy the last few days, aggravating my sinuses. That the cats are shedding their winter coats probably doesn't help either.
But hey, it's Friday, right? Ugh.
My co-worker, James, calls me to tell me one of his guys didn't get a check. I look at the payroll report and see he has zero ours. *headdesk* The system our payroll company uses glitches sometimes as I'm entering hours and will zero out whatever I've put in. I'm very diligent about double checking (I actually check everything twice before finalizing), but well, see the first paragraph. I was really not well on Wednesday when I did payroll and I didn't do my second check.
Thankfully, the employee wasn't upset and is fine with a direct deposti on Monday. Yay.
Not ten minutes later, the phone rings, I look at the caller ID and see James' name. I figure he's calling back about the above employee, but no, can't be that easy, right? ANOTHER guy has an issue. This one at least turns out to not be my fault - he asked for 16 hours of vacation and had none, so I didn't give him any. Maybe I should have checked to see if he had any PTO available and used that, but I'm wary of changing vacation to PTO or the other way around out of fear that they're saving one or the other for some reason. James actually agreed with this and said he'd have the guy put the PTO on next week's check if he wanted it.
I'm coming back from the bathroom and the phone starts ringing. Not meaning to, I say out loud, "I swear to god if that's James, I'm going to cry."
I think I heard Zayne cackling somewhere.
So, hopefully your Friday is going better than mine is! And, if not, I hope maybe this gave you a little chuckle.
Oh and... GO KNIGHTS GO!

Date: 2024-04-26 07:13 pm (UTC)It's quarter past twelve and I haven't heard back from him, I think I'm safe for the day. LOL
Thanks. :D I'm actually good, I just always feel so bad when I mess up someone's paycheck, even if it's an accident.

Date: 2024-04-27 02:50 am (UTC)Oh boy, always the way when you're not feeling it. At least it's all been sortable. What's PTO?
I hope yur sinuses feel better soon and you are back on the top of your game!
On the good news front, 4K words written! (Re your other post). Woot!📝

Date: 2024-04-28 10:39 pm (UTC)Right? Agreed, and everyone was pretty understanding, too. PTO is personal time off. For every week you work (and it doesn't have to be 40 hours), you earn 1.54 hours of PTO, so by the end of the year, you'll have earned 80 hours. It's separate from vacation or sick pay, since not everyone is eligible for those, but anyone working gets PTO.
Thanks! I was really impressed with myself!
Missed the middle part, sorry. They are much better now that the wind and rain have stopped!

Date: 2024-04-27 04:24 am (UTC)I keep waiting for the pollen to drive me up a wall, but I think the sinus freezing procedure I had a year ago is still keeping the inflammation down. I'm glad, because damn did that hurt. At least it's working for a bit. I'm sure it's not forever.
Hope the climate cuts you a break! At least in the air quality department.
My sis had a great time in Vegas. She didn't lose any more than she had planned to spend as entertainment, and she and her friend are both big on the get up/pool/casino/dinner/sleep/repeat experience. She had some jet lag when she got home.
Today I was through my to do list for work at 4:30pm, so I knocked off early and spent three hours on my back yard garden projects. It's the first blue sky day we have had in a week. It was chilly, but the sun felt great. I moved the compost bin all the way to the back fence, and mixed it in with the larger compost pile. Then I cleared the area around my planters behind the garage and laid out more bricks to extend the little deck that I hope will keep the weeds and old raspberry brambles down. I'm going to pile soil there, too, and make a bin-less planting area where I'll put in strawberries.
The spinach, mustard greens, radishes and lettuce I planted have started to sprout and I surrounded them with a little fencing I forgot I had on hand. Take that, peacocks! Lol. We are about to move into a week of temps in the 60s, so the trees and plants should all start to fill in.
So ready for spring!

Date: 2024-04-28 10:33 pm (UTC)The one benefit here is that in a couple of weeks, it'll be too hot for anything to blossom, so the pollen issue will go away for the summer. LOL
Thrilled your sister had a good time! Really nice weather for her, too, minus Friday. LOL
Good luck with all the plants and gardening projects. Hah — foiled the peacocks for the time being. :D

Date: 2024-04-28 02:50 pm (UTC)I hope you're feeling better and that the next week of work is a good one. Sounds like you've been writing like mad too, which is a good thing.
Now, about those Knights- I'm hoping last night was a one-off and they can recoup and win the next couple. Getting the Stars out of the picture would be a good thing.

Date: 2024-04-28 09:56 pm (UTC)I am, thanks. And last week wasn't awful, but Friday gave me fits. LOL
OY. Don't I know it. We did start the series strong, so hoping we can snap back into form here for the next games.

It was really nice. Usual stuff, but I did get to relax some.

Date: 2024-04-29 04:43 pm (UTC)I'm always so paranoid about payroll issues.
Some system we use (not payroll) defaults the quantity to 1 and if I just tab in put in my number then tab out it puts my number after the 1 rather than overwriting it. which makes a huge difference when I accidentally order 120 of something rather than 20.
Allergies eat the brain, at least your employee was cool with monday. Hope you are feeling better.

Date: 2024-04-29 05:06 pm (UTC)Right? You don't mess with other people's money, even on accident!
Oh man, yeah, that would be aggravating and potentially disastrous.
They really do. I'm thrilled that he was okay with it, too. He could have gotten a live check on Friday, but he would have had to go pick it up. He probably figured waiting was easier. LOL Thanks. :)
